Ren's Pets Stouffville

1st time to this location. I was looking for a harness. I was walking around that section for about 15 min. No one came up and asked if I needed help. I finally walked up to the counter and asked the lady for some assistance. Was wanting to know the difference between the 2 I had in my hand. She looked at me with a judgemental face and said ummmm I don’t like harness’ they’ve never worked for me. I asked her why she didn’t like the 2 options I had in my hand and she couldn’t answer. She said if you still want to use a harness I would use this one instead. Points out a harness that is about double the cost of the 2 I have in my hand. I put them down, walked out and went to global which is where I should have gone in the first place.

What can I say, I’m extremely pleased with this store! They have great prices and brands that are hard to find at other stores. I use to shop and a mom and pop store for Stella and Chewy’s and their prices were higher. I went to Rens Pets and the selection of that brand is wider and at a better cost. I never shopped at Pet Smart because it was so generic. But Ren’s is unbeatable with quality. This was my first time at there and the store manager Kyle was so kind and helpful! He really Is knowledgeable and outgoing, such a pleasure to speak with him. He educated me in the benefits of becoming a member so I signed on and looking forward to my next trip there! My doggo’s love their new treats as well☺️

I usually don’t write reviews but this was just catty of the employee. I went in to get dog food so I had a 100$ bill, they didnt have the food I wanted which is fine so I got a chew. I was then blamed for “taking all their change for the weekend” and he complained that he had to go to the bank, he even yelled across the store to another employee saying “Guess I’m going to the bank”. I’m pretty sure if a 100$ bill sets you back that badly, there’s a bigger issue at hand and blaming me was not ok. I didn’t get his name, might've been the manager if he’s responsible for the cash but either way, not cool dude, I’m not going to take the blame and feel bad for your bad cash management. Definitely not going back to that location, or maybe even any other location if that kind of pettiness is allowed.

The staff who helped me (staff: KA) is very friendly and helpful. Help my new husky to choose the correct dog food. Very acknowledged! Patient! Their program is amazing.

The best pet store, always a great shopping experience! My dog developed a chicken and duck allergy all of a sudden, after 9 years of eating human grade chicken daily (boiled chicken breast and white rice) mixed w/ her kibble. I was confused, but great employees guided me towards venison and kangaroo food, saved Booboo from the allergy symptoms that were tormenting her. Ask about their Ren’s promise program, wonderful program for those in similar situation, if ur searching for a food that ur fur baby will actually eat. Thank u Ren’s!

What kind of a pet store doesn’t carry fish items? They had like a few containers of food and water conditioners and that’s it. Came in for a simple net.

Seriously does no one answer a phone there. Called 12 times never answered. Wanted to buy a product they had one in stock left. I'm not driving all the way from oshawa on a chance they have it

Update: I’ve reached out to Ren’s as per their request and they have extended an apology on behalf of the store and have made up for my negative experience, so the corporate customer service is definitely very customer-focused, which can definitely be appreciated! Updated rating to reflectOriginal review:Online inventory said there was limited stock of some products so to be safe, I called to confirm & ask for it to be put aside for me to pick up after work, and the staff said they had it. Once I arrived, it turns out they put aside food THREE sizes larger than I needed & there actually wasn’t even the product size I needed, so I made the trip for nothing!! We asked for 16oz and they set aside 4kg, so I’m a bit perplexed as to the drastic difference.They said “oh, sorry…!” but as they didn’t offer any further assistance, it didn’t really help my situation - This location was the closest to home but now I need to drive 30 minutes further to another Ren’s.I could’ve also gotten the product at the Global Pets or Pet Valu near home but wanted to purchase with Rens’ loyalty program, so it’s frustrating that I wasted time and gas to need to go to 2 separate stores when I purposely called in earlier to avoid any problems.A suggestion is to have a sticky note and jot down what the customer’s looking for - brand, size, protein, etc, and worst case, it never hurts to jump back on the phone to re-confirm with the caller before checking inventory, otherwise I won’t be the only frustrated customer.

I was in Rens twice this weekend. I had the pleasure of meeting Kyle. He was honestly so helpful and helped me find some new food choices for my dogs and cat. The customer service is amazing. The rewards program is awesome. I will continue to shop here for my pet needs for sure. You should definitely shop here for your furry family members.

I’m a first-time dog owner, and inevitably, I was nervous going into a pet store, as there is so much variety. Kyle had greeted me and patiently helped answer all the questions I had regarding products, lifestyle, and any additional concerns. I’m so thankful for Kyle’s knowledge and guidance, and pleasant approach! Highly recommended!
