Verge Permaculture

Just recently completed the Fall 2022 VERGE Permaculture Design Certification. I am already using the skills I developed in the course to assist in an upcoming community project design. The course team provides incredible knowledge sharing and I don't think I left the course with one unanswered question. The group has truly humbled my senses and understanding of permaculture and how it is so vital for Mother Earth that we learn this knowledge of the lands together.

All I can say is, I've taken two full courses" and a master class and keep coming back. There are many places to get training online on topics related to homesteading

Just finished the Permaculture Design Course with Verge. Epic! I had no idea how much knowledge was to be brought out in the course. As a start up farmer, gaining understanding and knowledge of natural systems is vital to the resilience and success of the farm. Further, they connect the dots in applying this knowledge to successfully building a business and developing community relationships. Verge definitely exceeded my expectations, thank you!

The verge PDC takes you through a start to finish design of your own property. I didn’t realize this beforehand but it was immensely helpful to me and made it so much more practical and useful to go through the class. The class covers practical design as well as the nuances of why and how you should go about your design process.I found the instructors and facilitators available, as well as willing and eager to help and answer questions.As an online course a high priority was spent on community building. While this is difficult in an online format, I felt that they did a great job. Improvements can be made and I know they are constantly doing so and making the experience worthwhile.You can also learn at your own speed. A fantastic benefit and resource for a busy individual.Overall I rate this course highly and recommend it to anyone interested in taking a permaculture design course. Thank you to Verge for the wealth of information and the obvious hard work in putting on a great class. Cheers.

Verge Permaculture Academy has been a revolutionary platform to connect permies from around the globe in meaningful, strategic and personal ways. For a decade now, my permaculture journey has mostly been done isolated. Either moving from one off workshops, tours and events to in person or PDC clinics has been my only options. There has been no consistency for in person, practical and ongoing learning. Pandemic times moved us online but still very much isolated in the ”watching” and learning realm. Zero opportunity for a back and forth to emerge with any real traction. There has not been much opportunity for a platform that allows a deeper dive and back and forth daily engagement that is location specific. The Verge Academy has created this opportunity and designed a diversity of ways to connect for every type of learner. Verge has created unique and stellar content but also, a deep well of previous videos, tours, teachings in the form of the vault are available. In addition to hundreds of hours of shared knowledge in the vault, they have created a real time opportunity to share in the form of community design consultations. In these spectacular events, those who arrive on the call can, real time, offer up unique design issues that they are facing and have a concentrated group ”think” to expand the design thinking and often arrive at solutions that are location and context dependent and unique for this person. soooo much knowledge, wisdom and skills exist in this community and you have direct access to it within the academy platform. I have NEVER… learned as much practical and relatable information as I have already in these past 3 months. The line up of ”expert” folks that Verge has shared is second to none and They are always accessible for follow up. I really appreciate the one on one feeling to this academy. Alaine and other Verge Staff have been incredible at their personable attention to your individual needs, but also, open to direct the information where the academy members want to see it. I have done 2 PDC programs and copious amounts of learning, along with my own teaching since 2012 and what I feel that the academy has offered is a way to tease out those specific techniques, topics, skills, and hands on creations that are only skimmed over in the PDC. There is SOOO much to know and learn when starting your permaculture journey and all along the way. This academy offers one on one feeling of consultation with the growing community here. I LOVE the way some of these events spin off and members of the academy are getting together , as it feels meaningful, to explore specific techniques and ideas to support one another. I am ever grateful to the Verge team for the insight and willingness to try this process out in this format. I will likely hold an ongoing membership with the academy moving forward. I completed the PDC 2022 course and found it well-presented and the Instructors very knowledgeable and good-natured. Verge also offers more advanced courses of aspects within the basic PDC course. I found it well worth my time and money and am grateful.
