Poor experience., if I could give them zero stars I would. The online courses that I signed up for were a money-grab by the college. They started late (after the add drop deadline), and the little information that was provided was poorly organized. When I approached the college with a complaint, they took a long time to get back to me, and their solution was that they would look into my complaints for next year - the only current solution was for ask for an extension on the coursework which does not fix the poor quality of the course. If you get the chance, do not take any of the cannabis-related classes offered by College Boreal. You can get better quality and more comprehensive information for free from the local medical cannabis clinics.

This local College is a complete joke! They only care about the money not the students. Courses uncredited, doesn't provide assistance when asked and needed, does not reply to any emails or messages sent. Very unprofessional!! Do not recommend. Waste of money!

The teachers in my field were wonderful and helpful, they made my experience exciting and I was eager to learn more; for the most part I enjoyed my time here, if not only for the people I got to meet and spend time with. However, when I needed food and went down to the registrar, and applied for a grocery store card for some assistance. One of the women who worked there scoffed at me, shamed me, and told me that they were not a charity.I felt humiliated, I was young and it was the first time I was alone in my life, figuring things our for myself. They help" some of the lower income students.I will never forget her demeanor

To preface this review, I attended the Welding and Fabrication program (2yrs), and I've gone to 3 different Ontario college's in 3 seperate programs.Pros:-Amazing Teachers, Coordinator, Dean-Small class sizes-Great Equipment-Order of classes is perfect-Many opportunities to get your CWB ticketsCons:-Trying to be like another local colleges-Price of parkingFirst things first, I wanted to say thank you to the teachers, coordinator, dean, and cafeteria staff. I attended the Welding and Fabrication program for the last 2 years. College Boréal is very unique because they have teachers that are entirely devoted to the students' learning and comprehension of the trade of welding. I've seen teachers come early, stay late, or open up a day (unpaid) to allow students to learn things that they may have had difficulties with. I've seen the teachers come in for our CWB testing and do the burning, grinding and cutting of our test plates. Teachers will take the time to teach you pertinent information of the sector of welding you plan on joining (structural, pipe, mining, etc), they'll also teach you life lessons that go a long way to help build character. They have no problem showing you little fabrication tips and tricks that they learned over the years. The coordinator and dean are open to change, and are always interested in new technology and practices within the industry. In the first year my class suggested we create a pipe welding course to hone in on that difficult skill, the coordinator immediately made a request and the equipment was ordered. In the second year we learned how to weld pipe using all the industry standard equipment and practiced TSSA pipe welding exams in multiple different processes. When I had difficulties finding a placement for my last 2 weeks of school, the coordinator took me under his wing and let me complete it.I don't think students realize the value of small class sizes. A school my friend attended in Sault Ste. Marie and had a class of over 15 students, he often had to wait for his turn for a welder, torch, or even just help from the teacher. I never experienced that at Collège Boréal, you have a welding booth that's entirely available for your entire class and the teacher is almost always available. This is vital because the less time you spend waiting, means more time welding, therefore you can hone in on your skills and have the opportunity to learn more in 2 years than you would in a large class size. For welders, you'll learn MIG, TIG, stick, and flux-core/metal core welding on high end Miller welders. For equipment you'll learn to use an overhead crane, plasma table, hydraulic shear, hydraulic brake, hydraulic punches, high end automatic bandsaw, lathe, ironworker, belt sander, bench grinder, drill press, oxy acetylene torch, oxy acetylene pipe cutter, weld positioner, etc. The most important part about this equipment is they really put emphasis on the dangers of the equipment and how to operate them safely.I believe the class progression is planned so that every class is a stepping stone to the next. Meaning in the first semester you learn how to MIG weld in the flat and horizontal positions. The next semester you learn FCAW/MCAW (wire feeder process), meaning you have a comprehension on the techniques and troubleshooting.Another great part of this school is there are often 4 dates per year you can test for your CWB tickets. This allows you to save money, prepare and be able to do your testing on another date if you're not ready. My only complaint is when the Vice President of the college visited my class and asked us our opinion of the school. I had an issue about the price of parking, and she brushed it off then proceeded to say it's the same as Cambrian College. I realized this was a common pattern with her and would often compare Boréal to Cambrian. I personally think they need to find what makes them special and double down on that. Comparing yourself to others only gives you the problems they deal with while never working on your unique issues.

This College is a descriminating college. Bare in mind that as an international student, you will suffer depending on the teacher that you have, you cannot work in the college except in 2 places. If an international student, who pays already nearly 7 times more then a canadian citizen, tries to stand up for being descriminated, he will then be kicked out of the college, or considered as a mentally disturbed person and forced to get therapy. This place is outrageous, I would like to warn any international student who wou;d want to come here. On top of that, the college claims to be only french and following proper french language, but in reality without knowing english you will hardly be able to study, and the french spoken/written is constently full of mistakes which tend to confuse a person who actually speaks french and french only. Once again, do not join this college, they claim to be helping but if you are not a canadian citizen they will do their best to make your life miserable.

I had the most amazing years studying at this school. The teachers and the staff really care about you and your success. There is always lots of help and support available to all students. Tons of exciting activities and events. A beautiful campus surrounded by walking trails and trees. Nice bright class rooms, study areas, a library and a gym. This school also has a hair salon & spa, dental hygiene and massage therapy available to the students and the public. Ample parking and access to city transit buses.

Recently laid off (Feb 2022.) Got in touch a few days later about 2nd careers. The councilor handling my file is super friendly and efficient. (Everything has been done via zoom.) Instructions and steps to take/follow are explained. (You, the client must also make an effort.) You/we are not the only client. :) (I am from Windsor-Essex area. Not sure how my comment ended up at Sudbury. I changed Windsor to have my comment as well.) Cheers
