Food was the absolute worst food I've ever experienced. Rubbery chicken obviously not fresh. Pork was like leather it was so tough & the sauce was gelatinous & flavourless. It was all reheated food & 1 of the orders was incorrect. We left everything. I wouldn't even take home for my dogs to have. I would give zero stars if possible. Even the boiled rice was bland & rubbery. I'd rather burn my dollars than give to this restaurant ""

No complaints today about the food, although we have had issues in the past. Unfortunately, what the complaint today is, if we are spending almost $67.00 for a family meal of 4 for pick-up, we expect there to be equal portions/or four of everything and the last thing I want to do before I eat a meal I pay for, is spending time going back to make a complaint like that Chicken balls should have 20, not 15 for a family of four and the Soo guy should have 4 pieces, not 3. Other than that, it was hot and proper tasting today, so we are appreciative of that. It sours the mood and taste when something goes wrong, so we didn't come in or call to complain. Other than we should have just order a family meal of 3 if the main difference is price versus quantity. We don't doubt everyone there are genuinely hard workers and wish them a good day.

Ordered takeout for mothers day, they forgot half of our order. We called to ask about it and all they could do was give 2 eggrolls and the woman at the counter was rude.Worst food and terrible customer service. We wont be back.

If I could give it a zero star I would. Went to the buffet tonight. The food tasted like it was double fried, salty, all batter and very little meat. Disgusting.

Poor service all around and on top of it all they want cash at the door after she told me she doesn't know if she can deliver or credit over the phone not sure how in 2023 I can pay via card at the door ... So options are this get savings if you pay cash and pick up or give your card over the phone before the food get delivered not knowing if you will even get it or if it will come warm or hours later or pay cash at the door but because I'm getting delivery I don't get any savings for paying cash .... First time ever hearing of this. Decided to pass on the food and who ever was on the phone had attitude until she heard I wasn't happy with these options and was going to write a review and all of sudden she had a customer service voice nothing against the place but we are in 2023 if your going scam the government and ask for cash at least make it worth while.

A-1 Chinese Restaurant
I don't like to complain but this is the 2nd time recently we have had a problem with A-1 Chinese in Essex. Last year my daughter found part of a SOS/Brillo pad in her chicken ball and today there was a bug in my wife's soup. Restaurant disregarded both of these incidents and acted like it was a common occurrence. Just be aware.

This restaurant is sparkling clean.Portion is big, full of taste, server is friendly and kind. Highly recommend!
