We used Derks Formals for our groomsmen wedding party rentals and it was perfect. They have a large selection of suits, vests, ties, shoes etc and made it very easy for the guys to be measured and pick up what they needed. Customer service was wonderful and they went above and beyond to make our special day very memorable. We had rentals in both Calgary and Edmonton and they made sure everyone matched. We even had a couple groomsmen who were coming from outside of Alberta and they were able to send in their measurements. The staff made sure that everyone looked their best. We also recommended Derks for guests coming from out of town and they were able to assist everyone from a teenager to a grandfather. As the groom, also rented a sweet suit jacket to change into for the dance! Thanks Derks!

Disorganized and Archaic. Good luck getting a refund!On March 22 2022, I ordered a suit from Derks for my wedding. I was told it would take a few weeks to come in, which gave plenty of time (wedding was at the end of June). After about a month I started calling asking where my suit was, and I kept getting reassured that it was on its way.Fast forward - it's 3 weeks before the wedding and I call asking about it and was told yeah we can't get in what you ordered

We came to this location to check out the options for our wedding. All we wanted to do was talk to someone about pricing and packages, but there was no one at the counter to help us and the other staff in the store were clueless about the suits. One of the clerks went to the back to talk to the suit staff in the back but no one came out to talk to us. We waited for over an hour and finally gave up and left. Horrible service. I do not recommend going here. They didn't even have better options or pricing compared to their competitors. We've gotten much better service elsewhere.

We chose Derks for our groomsmen suit rentals because my husband had used them for another wedding, they were familiar to us, and the suits were really nice. Our first meeting went great, Patrick gave us a couple options for Navy suits, and was able to find one silver tie option to fit our wedding colours which was trickier to track down than we had thought, but we wanted to look around and think about it a bit.My now-husband went back about a week later to make the official choice and give the groomsmen info, etc., but Patrick didn’t recall the previous appointment, and although he had a file of sorts for us, he hadn’t written down the options properly and initially thought the black suit my husband rented for that previous wedding was the one for ours because it was under his account. He made my husband try everything on again, and wouldn’t let him book everything until I, the bride, came in person to approve everything, even though my husband was texting me photos and I trusted his decision for his groomsmen anyways! So, we went back a third time together, and once again, Patrick didn’t really recall us, tried to bring up the black suit from the other wedding, and wanted my husband to try on the suits again! The tie we selected wasn’t in the system to add to our order and didn’t have a code number written on it, so Patrick took a significant amount of time trying to look it up in catalogues, finding other ties to ring up, etc. until I finally asked if he could scan the code on the tie to see if it would come up…which it did. He had to ask the other woman working a few times for help finding things in the system as well. I believe he had been working there for a number of years and so it wasn’t an issue of being a new employee, which would have been understandable.I believe the Groomsman fittings went well, and the suits all looked great at the wedding, but it was really quite frustrating trying to get everything booked to start off with. When my husband dealt with different sales clerks he didn’t seem to have any issues, they found everything right away, seemed really knowledgeable, etc. but every time we dealt with Patrick, it was a bit of a hassle. He certainly looks the part, dressed to the nine’s in fancy suits, and he seems to know the suits well, but the admin part of the job is not his forte. We would recommend Derks for suit rentals, but just be prepared, or write down all the numbers/options yourself in advance to try and avoid all the confusion.

The whole process with them went super smooth. Most of our group was from the US, so we couldn’t get them all in to get sized there. The guys just sent us their sizes and we relayed them to Derks, and all our suits came out perfect. Additionally, people arrived in town at different times, so not everyone was able to come in at the same time to get their suits and try them on. They were very accommodating with that as well. Also the process for going in and picking suits was very smooth, their staff is knowledgeable on trends while still respecting your wishes of your vision for the attire. Highly recommend!

Would not recommend to anyone. First they failed to save all of information for the bridal party. Then they assured everything thing would be fixed, then they ordered the wrong size. We asked for a refund and we only recieved half. Pathetic period.

The suits were fine. They are quite disorganized though.Went in to get suited up for my wedding. They were good with trying on all combinations of suits and ties and bowties and jackets and all that.Problems started up when I asked them to set up a copy of the selected items in their calgary location for someone living in Calgary. They were unsuccessful. When my man in Calgary went in, they had no information. That person called the sherwood park location to sort it out, but it took forever. Ultimately they got the correct items.Two weeks before pickup date I called to change to the colour on the bowties. They were successful in the SP location, and despite a reminder from me to make sure it made it to Calgary, they did not send the changes to Calgary.I forgot to pick up on the agreed upon day. No phone call from them. Not a good sign. Went in next day, and they did not have the items ready. I stood around for 15-20 minutes while I imagine they dashed everything into the bag for me. Tried it on and made adjustments. That lady was superb in getting me dressed and ready.Watch out for their late fees. It's a scam. They let you take your suit 4 days early, no problem. But they suddenly need it back the day after your event. And 20 dollars a day. This is how they make their money off you. They don't need it rushed back, they have a warehouse.Overall, a mediocre experience. Other reviews have talked about missing items and forgotten orders, and I believe them.

Unfortunately our experience with Derks has been a negative and stressful one and we would not recommend renting suits from this company. Not only were there sizing issues, Derks double charged one of our groomsmen for his suit after we had already paid for all the suits in full a while back. It has been a nightmare trying to get refunded for a mistake on Derks part. After multiple phone calls to multiple people from different levels of management we still have not received a refund from head office. It has been 4 months dealing with this and I have a feeling we will never see our money back. At this point we are not sure what else to do other then to warn people to avoid this company and it's horrible customer service.

Awful experience. Went in the store to get a suit and was not helped because the associates were understaffed. I waited for an hour.Most rentals were too pricey for their quality. When I finally tried the rental garments the shirt was stained and the pants were ripped. Do not rent from this place!

The good: of all the suit rental companies we looked at, Mr. Derk had the best selection of suits, and the best prices. Using them, we had a better choice in colors to match our wedding colours than any other rental location we explored. And in the end, the groomsmen were outfitted as desired, though it wasn’t without some bumps along the way.The bad: communication between stores was horrible. We initially were helped and placed our order at the Whyte Avenue location; one groomsmen went to the west end location where they fitted him with the wrong colour shoes and suit; the rest of the groomsmen went to the Sherwood Park location where we were told they couldn’t help us without an prior appointment (despite being told by the Whyte Avenue location to drop-by for fittings). On the day of the final fittings, one of the groomsmen had a wildly misfitted suit (he looked like a clown with pants double the waist size and suspenders holding them up). Fortunately, with the final fitting being at the Sherwood Park location - where the warehouse is - they were able to quickly remedy the situation.Our advice: Go with Mr. Derk, but only go to the Sherwoork Park location. Being the warehouse, they can resolve issues faster, and there seems to be much miscommunication between stores. Book an appointment for anything and everything as they may not be able to help you if you just show up. And book a final fitting earlier enough that they can make necessary changes as it is very possible something didn’t end up being communicated correctly during the process.
