After fighting with pulling behaviours, overexcited reactions to house guests, and a couple of incidents where our boy Scout took off after wildlife (read: rabbits) we decided to enlist some professional help. After the assessment David suggested 3 one-on-one sessions. It’s only been a month and Scout is a completely different dog. If you’re in need of a compassionate, highly effective training, I can’t recommend Canines Alberta highly enough!

David and the team were outstanding. We were dealing with some very challenging behaviours with our two dogs (e.g. aggressiveness, lack of recall, destructiveness, etc.). My wife and I tried everything, including group training programs and 1 on 1 trainers in the home; nothing seemed to make a difference. But the Canines Alberta board and train program worked wonders. They came back well behaved dogs that were much happier and confident.

We cannot say enough about David and his team. Our dog Jersey was a struggle to walk. Pulling and barking at everything that moved. After completing the three week board and train program she is now an absolute pleasure to walk. I wish I would have done this sooner.

We cannot thank David enough for the work he did with our dog, Fitz. We had gotten to the point where we were seriously considering re-homing Fitz because we could barely take him out of the house with his reactivity issues. We were beyond frustrated as we felt we had tried absolutely everything to help our pup. Then we found David. We sent Fitz to his board and train program for 3 weeks and got a whole new dog back. Now we feel like we have our lives back. We can take Fitz hiking, camping, to our run club, cafes, friends houses, and we can have people over! To say we are relieved would be an understatement. Thank you so much David for changing our lives and Fitz's!

The training received by Canines Alberta was life changing for us. We received the tools and knowledge to interact with our dog in so many positive situations within our household as well as in the public. He has developed great confidence training with David and his team and carries himself much differently than before. We couldn’t be happier with the support given by Canines Alberta Professional Dog Training

I reached out to David when my 1.5 year old Aussie started nipping and chasing children... My girl was showing lots of anxiety and aggression and with a baby on the way, we couldn't risk her behaviour, so with some skepticism we signed up for personal training sessions with David. After the first session, I couldn't believe it - David was walking my dog without her pulling, and soon I was too.The lessons were fun and enjoyable, I learned so much and I was able to ask David a million questions to help me better learn about how best to help my dog. My dog and I have grown closer and I now feel comfortable bringing her into high anxiety places because I know she looks to me to guide her. My home is more relaxed and we continue to use all the skills David taught the both of us. David even held our last session at a Winners where I was able to be supported and see all the wonderful changes in my girl. I have a completely different, calm dog and I could not be more grateful to David.

It’s impossible to put into words the gratitude that I have for David and his team for the impact they have had on our family. We have two dogs, Freddie (a toy Aussie) and Charlie (a Sheltie). We had both dogs attend Canines Alberta Professional Dog Training board and train program. It was a very difficult decision but has been worth the investment of time and money exponentially.Freddie is a covid puppy and we were having a really difficult time with him in public or with new people. He is extremely energetic but was terrified of all new experiences. He would bark and lunge whenever we were outside the house. His behaviour was making it difficult to ever bring the dogs outside of the house and we were resorting to walking at odd hours to try and avoid people. This paired with his energy made life inside the home equally difficult, as he was not getting the mental and physical exercise he needs. We tried many different training approaches with other trainers in the city, but nothing worked until we worked with David.Charlie was an extremely obedient dog and regressed significantly when we brought Freddie home. The main behaviours we needed to work on with Charlie were food aggression and relentless barking inside the house. Although barking is a common attribute of shelties, her barking was loud, persistent and creating stress in the house. Charlie is also exceptionally stubborn and intelligent. Other training methods were not proving to be effective.David and his team use a blended approach to training, whereas they leverage reward base and e-collars. They adapt their approach for every dog to ensure that the behaviour modification efforts are effective. For example, for Charlie the e-collar does not work on its own. She requires physical encouragement (like a quick flick of the leash) to break her focus. She will persist despite any stimulation from the e-collar alone. I was very impressed that David used completely different training approaches for Freddie than he did for Charlie. Both dogs are far more involved in our family daily activities now and the entire household is less stressed. Freddie is able to go for walks, go to pet-friendly stores, and meet new people. Charlie can take food from our hands gently and stops barking when asked. David also provided us with the skills we need to continue to train the dogs at home to reinforce the learned skills and learn new ones effectively. Not only would I recommend David and his team for your training needs, but I will also continue to use them for boarding moving forwards.Lastly, the only negative review David has ever received is from a random Instagram interaction where they misunderstood the video and took it upon themselves to write a review. They have no personal experience with David and his work.

My dog became reactive to other dogs near our home after my baby was born, David helped me gain more control over her and learn the proper way to be introducing new dogs and socializing. She is still a work in progress but I feel confident now with all that I’ve personally learnt the correct way.

We sent our 3 year old border collie for board and train. We had struggled with reactivity issues with other dogs, people, and kids. The first time she met the trainers I could tell she would listen and learn from them. Within 20 mins of our meeting David he already had our dog walking alongside of him and she was being very attentive to his commands. We could tell he had a great presence with dogs. We sent her for 4 weeks and we brought her home yesterday. Since she has been home she has still been her same goofy self but she seems more mature. She knows what is expected of her and listens to commands. Today I was able to take her to a pet store where she was very attentive to me and knew to look at me for commands. Overall we are so happy with her changes and can’t wait to grow with her and continue all the great training tools canines alberta taught us

Amazing experience! Used the board and train and my dog was positively socialized and trained. He now can enjoy being a dog on our acreage and I have the ability to reinforce the training with Dave’s guidance. The solid recall allows me to keep my dog safe. He greets people like a gentleman and no longer takes me water skiing at the end of the leash. The whole house is calmer. It’s like the cats have picked up on his new positive energy and both cats are also more relaxed as well. He also provided me with post training support as I had questions once he was back home. I would recommend Dave anytime. My dog loves him, and I trust my dog when it comes to people ☺️ Thank you Dave!!
