Lechon Republik - East

The place is kind of like a fast food, cafeteria style; not much of a decoration for sit in, but the food tastes so good. Especially this Pork With Shrimp Paste, goes really well with white rice. Shrimp paste is a fermented salty paste made from shrimp. Chinese people have been using it to cook pork for hundreds of years. But it usually smells weird. Some will even say stinky, very salty too.But this Philippines dish is different, it's not very salty, it has a slight smell and taste of the shrimp paste, and the sweetness of the sauce makes everything so well balanced and tasty.Price is a bit costly, $8 for a small size.

Delicious food! Went here for the first time and staff were very helpful when it came to picking out items. Tried the lumpia, pork sticks, adobo and a few others. Everything was tasty and the meat was all tender.

I got the chicken adobo and the lechon kawali, both were delicious! The pork was very crispy and the chicken was full of flavour. Would highly recommend this place especially if you are in the east end and craving Filipino food.

We just came from there today 10:05 more or less when they just opened. The lady (might be the owner) was rude and does not even greet you. Since we were hungry on our way to Quebec, we decided to have breakfast there. We ordered the combo with rice.We were excited to eat when our first bites, the rice was not even half cooked and the smell of their rice is not good. We told the lady about it and she told us 20 mins. more the rice will be cooked. How the heck you served the rice that u know it is not even half cooked and there’s 20 minutes more to go before it will be ready to be served!!!We are so disappointed and my husband told her no wonder some reviews here were bad. The lady told my husband “oh please sir dont even start it”. I told the lady “you are open for business and we have the right to give our opinion based on facts that we personally experience today so you have to be open for comments!”.She kept quiet and giving me back my money without even an apology.Such a rude business person knowing Filipinos are known to be nice and respectful. You woman, goodluck on how long you will be doing your business if you keep your attitude like that! We have also businesses but we never treated our clients like the way we were treated today. Such a dismay!My family will never go back and will share the words we have experienced from you and your food quality!

Great spot when you're craving Filipino food in the Durham region. Enjoyed the dinakdak and you can never go wrong with halo halo, BBQ sticks or lumpia. Very friendly staff and super clean restaurant with baked goods also for sale. Will be back!

I would t call the place spectacular. They serve the same food most of the time. Consistency of the taste is sometimes an issue, too salty at times and often too heavy and oily. Service is okay. For anyone who just needs a quick Asian meal, it’s so so.

Edit: I recently visited this place again and it’s a night and day difference from the first time I went. Portions are much larger and the quality of the food is spot on. I wish I tried it sooner but better late than never.

Food was disgusting. I ordered two beef patties and it was spoiled the peanut chicken was just a large piece of fat and food was not flavourful enough. I did come during closing but that doesn't give them the right to serve spoiled beef patties. Soo gross.

Writing this review as I am digging in and satisfying my craving for Pork Humba. I've been craving it since Christmas eve and regret not ordering a tray then but with their closure over the holidays, it's only today (the 29th) that I got my cravings satisfied! I called yesterday but too bad they didn't have it so they accomodated my request and cooked it for today! I must say their HUMBA is one for the books! I have never tasted humba at any Filipino resto in GTA like it! They're very well known for their lechon dishes of course (hence the name!) and their dinakdakan and sisig but I highly recommend to try their humba. My kids love it they can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner :) thanks again, Tita and the rest of the team! They've always accomodated my requests even last minute ones. Happy new year from the humba queen hahaha
