It's an emergency which means they see the absolute sickest people first its called the triage process. The Frontline staff work tirelessly to provide exceptional care with the limited resources at hand. Understand there is about 50 beds to serve our entire community as Grand River is the trauma and district stroke center for the Region. No one is ever turned away that being said wait times can be excessive for patients that need imaging for minor symptoms or have an issue that could be treated by a family doctor. Please respect staff and volunteers and if you need to voice your opinion please contact Grand River Hospital patient relations. If you think we deserve better contact your local MPP and MP and voice your opinion!

Twice in the past 3 months I have found myself requiring emergency health care and have had the privilege of going to Grand River Hospital Emergency rooms. Both times have been at night, on a weekend, when there would normally be an overflow of need for help and yet I have received some of the best health care I have ever seen on both occasions. On the last occasion, I walked in the door, was ushered directly into triage with a nurse, was registered by a second nurse within 5 minutes and before I was even finishing with her, a lab technician had arrived and called my name to take blood and begin running tests. I waited for less than 20 minutes in the general waiting room before I was given a bed in emerg and rested there until more tests were required. I was in the door and out the door with a diagnosis and treatment plan in under 5 1/2 hours but had begun receiving care within seconds of arrival. This place runs like clockwork and every person I dealt with was an absolute professional with kind and patient demeanor. Thank you Grand River ER, I am so grateful to have you in our community.

They almost paid no attention for a man who was having hard time breathing, walking and having stroke like syptoms.. this man ended up leaving the hospital! without any care… this is crazy! He did everything to tell the nurses about his situation. Now who’s gonna be responsible if something happens to him?Not to be rude to any staff here but they clearly need to hire more more nurses This is a very important issue people need to focus on and this is nothing to with making our healthcare private.. This is a staffing issue! Thousands of Immigrants arrive to this country every year but they can’t become doctor’s because of a stupid law that prevents acknowledging foreign diplomas, while allowing every corrupted company to use Illegal Mıgration labor!

Update Mar 5, 2023: Star ⭐ reduced from 1 to triple Zeros 000. This time, I was(still I'm) a patient in ER waiting for last 6 hours. Please check the evidence in photos, my parking ticket time, and check the ER Real time Dashboard longest waiting time mentioned, its 1 hr 21 mins, but its been 6 hours I'm still waiting for the doctor, its 3:01pm now and I came around 9:00am.Why they are cheating even in displaying Real Time Dashboard? There was no rush outside, there is no rush inside I can see. What's the reason?-----Rating is not due to waiting time. I do understand the reason of emergency waiting time. Staff was kind and supportive. Although, I do see lacking of process management here. Patient doesn't know where the staff taken them neither inform to care taker about it. Even from one triage to another, they don't inform patient what's going on. Its like Go left go right sit down stand up directions. This is not the way things should work in emergency. They should inform patient or his/her care taker about next steps. Not the waiting time but atleast what's going to happen and what they are waiting for.

I recently went to GRH emergency services for a quad injury on Monday around 11:45am. The moment I hopped through the entrance, I found the volunteers, nurses, x-ray staff and the doctor very pleasant and professional. My overall wait time wasn't too long as they seemed rather busy. As I was waiting a volunteer offered to refresh my ice several times.Thank you to all the staff.

Always understaffed. Doesn't meet the minimum care demands for a medium city like Waterloo. It's unfit for the actual daily demand. This hospital could meet the demands of a town of 40 thousand residents at most. Management is responsible for running a horrible show.

This might be harsh but find it disrespectful when you called the hospital within 24hrs to cancel your appointment with short term. To still getting the call saying I no showed well not wrong about that but not my issue because I informed them of this to get told I'm in the wrong when just stop calling me would be obvious when no one Friday informed you short term doc. No wonder they get problems and misleading information to leave a simple message. Thanks for checking in on me at least sorry no one told ya as I was told by the hospital staff told me when no word was out. I trust my family doctor then this.

I take my newborn baby to emergency, we wait 3 hours and I asked the nurse how many people are before us, he told me 14 people and we need to wait couple hours! It is 12am!!! It’s horrible and ridiculous only 3 doctors to service 14+ more patients! And another nurse is not nice and her attitude is so bad and so mean to me and my newborn baby! This hospital emergency is the worst one in Kitchener!!!!!!!!!!

Terrible service at this hospital. My wife is 19 weeks pregnant suffering stomach pains with a blood pressure of 200 it has been over 4 hours, we are still waiting in triage. Absolutely unacceptable !I can't wait until Doug Ford brings in private health care !
