Severed my finger and waited 5 hours drenched in blood until someone helped clean my hand and stitch me up. No pain meds, no ice pack or anything! I understand there are different priorities but the least they can do is be transparent with patients if there arent available doctors. Level of care is tremendously lacking.

Was at the Acute Center @ Vancouver General Hospital recently. I would rate my experience with a ZERO star if I could. Waited for almost 8 (EIGHT) hours for treatment. The nurses station is rather unorganized and there does not seem to be much cooperation. If you want service you have to approach the station and enquire otherwise they will simply let you wait for hours. One male nurse was rather RUDE in Acute centre C - frankly he should NOT be hired for the job.Totally lack of job knowledge, rude, very bossy attitude - he thinks that he 'owns' the unit although we the tax payers are the ones PAYING his salary. Because of the lack of cooperation or coordination resulted in the inefficiency of the unit which in many ways contributed to the very LONG WAITS.I wish the hospital management will hire someone to analyze the efficiency/productivity of the hospital operation overall. Its patient service is TOTALLY unacceptable.

My wife on May 11, 2023 had a lobectomy done by Dr James Choi & his team at VGH. Thank you all for your outstanding work. We also remember the excellent care she received from the other doctors, nurses & support staff while warded at the Thoracic unit (Rm 12310) Some names we remember - Ho Hin, Kevin Sangren & Bonnie Lynne. I apologize there are others whose names we cannot recall but they demonstrated an amazing level of care & compassion during my wife's stay there. Keep up the awesome work you folks are doing.

One of the best treatments and care I have ever received. All people, from doctors, RNs, student nurses, receptionists, and housekeeping, everything is world-class. Over my stay can't figure out a negative thing to point out.Room T94, will always be in my heart.

I cannot believe they are still enforcing a covvid vaccinne card that doesn’t prevent spread of covidd or keep you any safer then a unvaccinated pro choice, pro freedom individual, its 3 years outdated and has been proven that it doesn’t protect you from getting any sicker then quadriple vacinnated person, you can still spread it the same amount being vacinnated. I now cannot visit a family member in vgh hospital without a vacinnxe card still in 2023 , disgusting!! Every other hospital in surrounding areas never asked for this when visiting my family members this year . The staff ask for this when everything is dropped everywhere , you can go everywhere, yet you cant go in vgh hospital unvaxxed , all the staff are interacting with non vacinnated in every grocery store, every mall, every patient, with there own family members and yet you enforce this still. The control is absolutely sickening, disgusting!! This needs to be removed asap, the staff are embarrassed to ask for this vacinne card still. They were already forced to inject this unproven mrna vacinne or get fired even though they worked without a vacinne this whole time! Unvaccinated deserve to go in hospitals and everywhere else. If we can go in Richmond hospital, Surrey Hospital, why not vgh?? Nobody has better protection no matter if you have 5 boosters it means nothing. They have been proven not to work! Drop the control and smarten up. Its 2023 get back to normal!

my experience with Canada's healthcare system has been deeply disappointing. While the principles of universality and accessibility are commendable, the execution falls short. Long waiting times, limited availability of services, understaffing, inadequate emphasis on prevention, and administrative hurdles hinder the effectiveness and efficiency of the system. Significant improvements are necessary to provide the quality healthcare that Canadians deserve.

I was hospitalized due to a severe case of Mastitis… I arrived at the ER carrying and in so much pain and the doctor at the ER was so nice, she understood what I was going though and I remember she said “we are going to figure this out honey” that made me feel that I was not helpless, the infectologist was supportive, knowledgeable and empathic, she listened to my whole story and how everything developed, doctors and nurses were friendly and caring, honestly the whole. staff was great! The room I stayed at had a nice view :pThanks VGH!

Nobody enjoys staying in the hospital, however the doctors, nurses and support staff working on 5B Neurosciences were awesome. Thank you for being so caring and human. Also, have to give a shout out to the staff who greet folks at the entrance, they were all very nice, and so were the folks in financial services, where you go to get reimbursed for parking.

I had a cat scan today. Sheetil (spelling?) looked after me with professionalism, humour and care. The Unit was a happy one, lots of laughter and banter amongst the nurses. Always a good sign. Reception was the same. The hospital has a good atmosphere.
