The Normaway Inn
By far one of the most incredible hidden gems. Our cabin surpassed our expectations! It was well taken care of, the beds were comfortable, and all the little necessities were readily available. The owner came over to greet us and to ensure we had everything we needed. He checked in on us periodically and always made sure we had enough wood. The communal fireplace was an excellent space for gathering with our friends. The grounds were breathtaking! If you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful stay, this is a must place to explore!

We had a lovely stay at the Normaway Inn. The Inn is a step back in time and beautifully preserved with much of the original furniture. The rooms are rustic and comfortable. The folks that run the place are very nice. We had a great meal and shared a delicious bottle of wine. We wish we could have been there while the music was playing in the barn. We will be back!

Decades long, family-owned and operated rustic and friendly. Amazing location, dining room and hospitality. Live music on-site. We had a memorable Thanksgiving week here using it as a base to explore the area. Thanks David, Jim and crew.

The first cabin in our row was boarded up and I feel like ours probably should have been as well. The floor was patched with plywood and felt like it was ready to fall in. When you walk in certain parts of the room the bathroom door pops open because of the shift. The front step also feels like its going to fall in. There was exposed electrical. The showerhead was spraying in every direction due to deposit build up. There were cob webs on the ceilings and in the shower. We found blood on the pillow cases. The jacuzzi jets were gross, not that I would have trusted the floors enough to add the weight of water to the thing anway....This place has great reviews and I struggle to understand why. The property is beautiful but not enough to outweigh the obvious lack of up keep to the cabins. The wasted potential makes it very sad to see.

Stayed at the Normaway during a bike tour of the Cabot Trail loop. The location is a bit remote with the nearest place for lunch about 4 miles away, although that place, the Dancing Goat, is great. The room in the main lodge was adorable and the staff were super friendly. The restaurant on site servers dinner which was delicious and fast. The potato leak soup was really tasty and the pasta dish I got was filling.Would definitely recommend!

An extraordinary experience. The Normaway Inn is an old property and very classy. They have a reading room full of old books to relax in. Afternoon tea snacks provided in reception. The rooms are old in the best sense: large and full of character and you can tell the family that runs this place take pride in their hospitality. The dinner was very nice (this is extra but well worth it, they have a great chef). Moreover, if you're into Caper Breton culture, they have a Cèilidh in the evening at the neighbouring barn on the property. I love Cape Breton fiddle music so for me this was definitely a high point. Pity we couldn't stay longer (just one night), but enjoyed every minute. Would stay here again for sure.

My girlfriend and I stayed for one night at the charming Normaway Inn. We rented one of the cabins during our time on the Cabot Trail and let me tell you if you ever have the chance, do yourself a favor and spend some time there! The site is magnificent with all the trees and the horse enclosures. The cabin was well-maintained and spacious. The owner went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. He even gave us some advices and recommendations about what to see and where to go. Due to us going out of the normal visitor season, he even took the time to call restaurants for us to see which ones were opened. We are hoping to go back and spend some more time during summer to enjoy the live music in the barn and all of the amenities the site usually offers. We highly recommend the Normaway Inn for your next trip in Cape Breton!

Stayed here at the recommendation of my Dad. Beautiful spot. The owners are very friendly. The on site restaurants food was delicious and well priced for the quality and quantity. The cabin was so cute. A wonderful little time capsule. Some friendly neighbours too. We had a lovely evening in the main lodge with some live music with the other guests.
