I would highly recommend that you do not hire David Lyman, the owner of TimberWright. I hired him in the spring of 2018 to rebuild my 1100 sq.. foot deck. I based my decision to hire David after speaking with him several times and because he had done some caulking on the exterior of my house. It is a complicated deck, but certainly any experienced carpenter like David claims to be should have been able to successfully complete the project. Dave went through three crews and the entire spring, summer, and fall, and he still wasn’t able to complete the deck.I was deeply disappointed as we developed a friendship, but in the end, and everyone on my street would agree, I was left in dire straits by David. Wrong materials were ordered, some of the workers didn’t work, some of his crew were incompetent, and David was never at my house to supervise them and to ensure that costly mistakes were not made. In the end, about 60 percent of the deck was completed and my family and I have been living in a construction site with a pile of wood and materials in my yard.I had five separate contractors ( all top rated from the BBB) inspect the work and they all identified numerous mistakes and poor and unsafe work that has to be corrected. At this time, much of the work is not safe. In addition, some of the exterior caulking that was done, did not adhere properly and needs to be redone. David said he would come-back to fix the caulking, but of course he never returned.The incomplete deck has also caused some electrical problems as there were electrical outlets along the deck that were left in the rain and mud for months and also some issues with rodents in the exterior wall since Dave’s team bent all of the flashing along the foundation. In the end, the mistakes will have cost me thousands and thousands of extra dollars.Although David has a good curriculum vitae and perhaps was once a good carpenter, for my project there can be no mistake, he proved to be dishonest, and not capable of building a deck, and moreover, he caused damage.I hope that no one has to go through what my family has endured because of David’s negligence.
