BFL Bakeshop offers vegan and allergen-free treats that are ACTUALLY DELICIOUS! There's something for everyone's taste and you don't have to be vegan or gluten-free to enjoy every bite! I really wanted to love this place as we have several dietary restrictions but it fell a little flat for us. First, there was an extremely limited selection of items (5 cookies, a date square and a Nanaimo bar). Second, we paid $20 for 4 items. Third, our Earl Grey shortbread cookie was inedible. The brownie wasn’t super flavourful.On the positives, the date square was divine and I would definitely buy that again. The Nanaimo bar was also tasty but fell apart at room temp. Put it in the fridge when we got home and it was great.

I’ve had cakes from BFL twice now and both times they were INCREDIBLE. I’m vegan and I have celiac disease so I’m used to having limited options, however BFL is an exception bakery regardless of dietary restrictions. For my birthday I asked for something with fruit and a vanilla base and Casey came up with a beautiful and delicious strawberry cake. Everyone who tried it loved it and agreed it was the lightest and most refreshing cake they had ever had, even my husband who thinks he doesn’t like cake loved it! I will continue to order BFL baked goods whenever I visit the Okanagan.

I cannot say enough positive things about Big Fat Lion! I have tried multiple allergen free bakeries, across multiple provinces, and BFL is always the standard I compare them against. And let me tell you, none compare to the flavour and texture of BFL. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu, but the Nanaimo bar is the best one I have ever had! So happy to have such an amazing bakery in Kelowna.

Great if your gluten free or nut free, very sweet treats I've noticed. Prices were higher as they always are with Specialty goods but you feel safe that they are allergy aware. No coffee or tea onsite, it's essentially take and go but they do have a few stools to sit if you wanted.

Got some goodies at a market, and OMG! Best nanaimo bar I've ever eaten and I've been gluten-free and dairy-free for almost 2 decades. The date bar and brownie were also delish!

I am always blown away by how delicious the baked goods are at BFL. They’ve managed to make incredible treats for all to eat. Although their treats are free from the top 10 allergens, I do not have any of these allergies and yet they are a go-to for me! The BFL cookie is incredible!! If you live in Kelowna or just visiting, you have to check this bakery out! Also, I met the owners while there and they are lovely!
