I went to Pixel Blue in 2021 and took audio engineering. I graduated from MacEwan University in the Bachelor of Music a few years ago and decided to continue to develop my skills. The program was very different than anything I took in the past, which like anything, could be good or bad.First the instructors. Umesh and Troy were great. Umesh has a lot of experience in the music industry and have worked with different labels and studios, so it was helpful learning from and the perspective from someone with industry experience. He has some wild stories. Both are pretty easy-going and easy to approach and talk to. They checked in often on our progress, both as a class and in our one on ones, and made sure we were always understanding the concepts, theories, and assignments. If you’re putting in the time and effort into the work, they will do all they can to set you up for success. For me, it included reaching out to their personal network to help find you opportunities in the industry. With that being said, they won’t hold your hand or coddle you through the program. I appreciated this approach but could see how some students could find it difficult. I still keep in touch with them whenever I need feedback or some help with things I'm working on.Next, the audio engineering program itself. The course content was thorough and there were a lot of concepts, strategies, and technical training that weren't covered in other programs I took, that I found useful. One thing I found very helpful is how Umesh covered the business side of the music industry and “how it all really works” (in his words lol). Most people think that so long as you’re good, you’ll make it, which is usually not the case. He goes into deep details on how the perfect recipe for success is a combination of skills, perseverance, and most importantly, personal branding and the ability to market and sell yourself. He goes through practical ways to develop these skills and had us work on projects in class that focused on this. The program is taught online, which worked out for me because I work almost full-time and class times was a bit more flexible. I met up with some of my classmates in-person after hours but would have been nice to see them a bit more in-person while in school. With Covid restrictions being over though, I could see how a lot of students would rather be in-person though. I paid $16k for the program (I applied for a thousand dollar scholarship on their website) which I found to be a bit steep but honestly it was well worth it.Overall, I’m happy with my time here and would recommend them for anyone looking to put in the effort to develop or improve your skills in audio engineering. There are a few different schools in the city, so I would recommend checking them all out before registering.

I graduated from the Digital Audio Production program back in 2020 and I am seriously warning all future students not to go into this money trap of a program. This program is $16000 for 5 months of instruction and the quality of education I got was laughable. The $16000 for 5 months (3.2k a month) should of been the first red flag but I blatantly ignored it for whatever reason. My classes started right when the pandemic started so they were moved to online classes, one of the main reasons I chose Pixel Blue was that it was in person but the Instructors reassured me that the quality of education will be the same online, boy were they wrong.Over the 5 months I practically watched low quality YouTube videos in my bedroom for an hour on how to use plugins then had 1 weekly zoom meeting to checkup" on how everyone was doing with things. The "homework" was word documents that were probably typed up last minute and the mixing projects were just from some website that had the stems of a track unmixed (also I know its music taste but it was some of the worst/weirdest music I've heard

I just got home from Pixel Blue’s 20th Anniversary. Normally I don’t comment, but I feel as though I should share my personal experience. In a nutshell, I made the right choice in choosing this school. It has a good balance of what I was looking for in a school. Teacher to student ratio was useful as I got lots of one-on-one coaching, the price was right, the curriculum was practical, and the ability to work with real clients. I learn and work best with a hands-on approach, which is what most employers seek nowadays—real experience! If you sincerely want to succeed, and that goes for anything really, remember that this is your chance. Needn’t waste it. This school will give you everything you need, plus more, to get a job in design. But you have to be willing to put in the work.

I waited what felt like a very long time to start my adventure into a working field I was passionate about. 3 years ago I started a photography company and without a doubt knew I was on the right track. Then last year I decided to take that a step further by starting a new journey at Pixel Blue College taking their Graphic Design & Photography program. It is a short yet intense course. I loved learning so much about something that is truly fascinating to me. I felt the passion grow with each passing week.Curtis the owner, is amazing. He takes a friend like approach with all the students and really empowers everyone to be the best versions of themselves.I still keep in touch with many of the students in my class. It's nice knowing a community of individuals with similar passions who encourage and push each other.Overall my experience at Pixel Blue was fantastic.

As someone who never expected to go to college, I am very happy to say that coming to Pixel Blue is arguably the best decision I have ever made in my entire life. The courses are short and sweet and you learn A LOT, and the staff and faculty are some of the best people I will ever meet. If you are looking to go to college and meet some great people, I highly recommend giving Pixel Blue a shot!

The folks at Pixel Blue College are simply amazing. We worked with their students for a website and other design services. We have worked with veteran design agencies" in the past and have had negative experiences. So We were blown away by the skills

I took the 3D animation and Modeling program and it was so intense and I learned so much. All the staff are great and everyone was so informative and helpful. My instructor Greg was probably my favorite teacher I've ever had. The course was engaging and challenging and I left feeling comfortable in my skills. If you are at all interested in breaking into the digital arts world in any way I highly reccomend this school. Having a immersion program where you do real work instead of just reading books and writing essays makes all the difference.I'm proud to be a pixel blue alumni.

I took the Graphic Design & Photography program and can honestly say it was one of the best five months of my life. I got to discover a passion that I truly love, meet some amazing, like-minded people, and all the staff were extremely cool and knowledgeable. Could not have asked for a better experience.
