One on One Upholstery

I'll start by saying I've never written a review before but felt compelled because One on One Upholstery is a wonderful business. Our experience with Michael upholstering our couch was beyond our expectations in so many incredible ways. His friendliness, professionalism, and dedication to the craft made our experience as first-time customers amazing. When I first started thinking about getting our couch redone, I had no idea what to expect. I looked on Google for upholstery services in the area and first called a highly rated local business. I was hoping to speak with someone who could help me understand the process and tell me what info I needed to give them in order to start the project. The person I spoke with from this other reputable business was very cold and made me feel like I was wasting their time. Unsurprisingly, I went back to Google to look for somewhere else. Next on the search list was One on One Upholstery. Scorned from my previous phone call with the other business, I decided to email Michael instead. I shared a few photos of our couch (a unique vintage design) and asked if he could help with the perfect. Very soon after, I received an enthusiastic response from Michael who commented on the uniqueness of the couch and said let's get on a call to talk more details. During the call, he shared a rough estimate of cost and asked what we were looking for in terms of fabric. From there, we set up an appointment to visit his workshop, learn about his process, and look at fabric books. Michael even let us take some books home to match against other fabrics in our living room. When we choose our favorite fabric, Michael had an educated guess that it might not be up to the job. Sure enough, he ordered a small piece and made a test pillow only to discover he was correct and that the fabric was too thin for our needs. He then went out of his way to source new fabric vendors so we'd have even more choices. Once we picked our new fabric, Michael kept us updated as we all waited the long supply chain delays from COVID. Finally, the fabric arrived, along with the foam, and the project could began! Michael and his drivers came to pick up the couch and were very polite and friendly. The same was true a few weeks later when they returned to deliver the stunning newly upholstered couch. Overall, we couldn't say nicer things about Michael. This is someone who knows his stuff and is incredibly pleasant to work with. We'll be returning customers with other furniture pieces in the near future.

We loved our dining room set, but the chair seats were giving out. When we contacted Michael about our situation, he outlined what he could do for us, and after supplying him with photos of the project, he provided a quote. When we picked up the samples, we could see the quality of his workmanship going on in the shop and he described the quality of the materials that he uses. We selected a fabric from his wide range of samples and scheduled the work. The chairs and seats were dropped off at the scheduled time and the work was completed on time and at the quoted price.The results were outstanding!Highly recommended!

If I could give Michael a 10* rating I would. He has made an uncomfortable couch a pleasure to sit on. It was a new purchase but non-returnable, so we found Micheal and what a difference he has made. Michael replaced the seat cushions on our mid-century modern living room set. The furniture looks new again. He was very pleasant to deal with. Very happy with his work.

My experience with Michael at One on One Upholstery was amazing. Every step of the process, from helping me select fabric, arrangements for pickup and delivery, and transparent pricing process was truly top notch. Michael is professional and personable and a true craftsman. I debated long and hard about reupholstering as it is not an inexpensive option when comparing to purchasing new. I am so happy I made the decision to revitalize my 30+ year old loveseats and 100+ year old chairs. I have a few more pieces that I will now consider getting reupholstered after my experience with Michael. I highly recommend Michael Steig at One on One Upholstery!

I reached out to Michael to reupholster two chairs. They were in the house I grew up in - high quality though with outdated fabric. He was extremely prompt to respond and was thorough in walking me through the process and what to expect. He outlined costs early on and with a clear breakdown of material vs labour etc. He also provided numerous fabric books to choose from. We just received the chairs back today and I am beyond thrilled with how they turned out - they look brand new! Michael’s craftsmanship is incredible and I would recommend him to anyone.

We just picked up our chairs from Michael, and are pleased beyond words at the quality of workmanship! We had purchased 2 antique Layzboy recliners a couple of years back, and have enjoyed them, but realized they needed some new life. I did a Google search, and One on One Upholstery had the best website for viewing before and after photos, plus he was rated in the top 10 (Yelp)for the region, so I sent him a couple pics via email. We went to visit his shop, liked what we saw, chose a fabric/design, and left them in his capable hands. So happy with the outcome and price!! It's almost as if we bought brand new, except the quality is better.
