This company engages in deceptive billing practices. I had Shred-it on-site residential service in January 2017. They charged my credit card a higher amount than quoted on their estimate (which they have you echo-sign before they will come out). When I called for sort it out, I was told the extra amount was for a fuel surcharge. I was not advised the amount for a fuel surcharge before my card was charged. Also, the fuel surcharge is not clearly spelled out on estimate, but instead is buried" in legalese on the second page. Sales Rep Laura Gammon did not respond to my emails regarding this issue and calls to the Sales Manager were not returned."

My company uses Shred-It for shredding services at 2 locations. About a year ago, I was having trouble reaching anyone at the local office, who could help me answer questions about my bill and my service. For months, I called and got the run around. I was finally put in touch with Candyce Whitton, who was very reassuring that she would work everything out. She gave me her cell number and told me to use her as my point of contact. I did as she said, and when Shred-It raised our rates with no notice, I contacted her. I also had a few other issues with them just not showing up, and them replacing our shredding bags with shredding boxes, causing us to run out of room much faster. Candyce suggested that we switch to a twice a month pick up instead of once a month for each office. She also informed me that she would have my rate put back to what we were contracted for. At this time, she sent me an ADDENDUM to my contract, which I signed. BIG MISTAKE. Not only did Candyce rope me into a new contract, she refused to acknowledge that she made a mistake. When I went above her head, to Joseph Kohler, he took over a month to get back with me, he basically told me that Candyce had made a mistake and sent me the wrong forms, but since I had signed it, they weren't going to let me out of a 5 year contract. Please understand, I was so frustrated with Shred It, and Candyce appeared and promised to make everything better. I would have NEVER signed another contract for 5 years without seeing if her ADDENDUMS would work. I called today, a year later, because Shred-It has once again raised my rates with no prior notice. I spoke with Brandy in customer service and was informed that my contract states Shred-It can raise my rates 10% every year. Get this, she also told me my contract was going to expire this year. Unfortunately, she was wrong, because Shred-It won't make things right and honor my original contract end date, which would have been 8/2017. Nope, they are going to make me go another 4 years, because their employee, Candyce Whitton conned me. I am still having continuous billing problems that Joseph Kohler has yet to fix.

The worst customer service possible. Been trying to pay a bill for over a year now. Both the automated phone system and the online payment options do not work.Edit: They responded asking me to call the same 1800 number I've been calling. The only solution they offer is to transfer me to the same automated phone system that does not work.

Very poor customer service,1) They do not respond to emails even when sent multiple times per day.2) They do not show up on the scheduled day3) They blame the software program4) Spoke with one rep who rescheduled a missed appointment. They failed to show up for the new appointment date ! When called, got another rep who said nothing was entered in the system. Had to wait another week for pick up.5) And today, again....no one showed up
