Post Office - Cowichan Bay

My advice is to make the journey to Duncan and use the Post Office there. The man who works at the Cowichan Bay Post Office made my experience a nightmare! But the woman who sometimes works there is a pleasure to meet as she is very friendly and helpful. The man was not going to help from the moment he saw me. It may have been the color of my skin. I went there to pick up a package as I received notice from Canada Post that it arrived at the Post Office the day before. He barely looked at any of the packages and then told me that my package wasn’t there. All the while he was curt and unfriendly. I asked him to look or to scan the qr code on my phone. I pointed at a package and asked if that was it. He reluctantly looked at the package but yes, it was mine.I went back to my car and realized the package he gave me was another package that I was expecting in the coming days. It was not the package I received a notice for the day before. I had to go back into the Post Office and try again. This time I brought my partner for moral support and to observe the rudeness. Once again he barely looked at any of the packages and told me that my package wasn’t there. All the while, he was getting more irritated and curt. He wasn't able to scan the code on my phone (after grabbing my phone out of my hands without offering disinfectant afterwards) and just decided the package wasn’t there. He wouldn’t check the computer or most of the other packages. I told him that I received notice and he said that doesn’t matter, he worked there 34 years and the package wasn’t there.He was being incredibly unhelpful and I was getting angry so I walked away from the counter and left my partner to deal with him. I returned about 10 seconds later and the package magically appeared. He tried to explain that it was the wrong post code so it wasn’t supposed to go to that Post Office. He just gave me the other package with the same post code and didn’t mention this then.My advice is to never use this Post Office. Make the journey to Duncan and use their Post Office. You will get really bad service in Cowichan Bay and he may lose your mail.

This is an excellent little post office, staffed by a friendly fellow. He always makes sure we get our packages and mail. He often goes out of his way to be extra helpful, like when the FedEx guy can't find our house. If I could give 10 stars, I would!

Open Thursday 9:30am - 5pm. I went in at 4:45PM to buy some stamps the man working there said you will have to come back tomorrow as I have closed the till ( with a smirched grin ) I said but you open till 5:00 PM.HE SAID COME BACK TOMMOROW I HAVE BEEN HER FOR 35 YEARS> This guy should not lasted 35 minutes from day one as far as I am concerned. I deal with Country Grocer to buy my stamps now.

The post office in Cowichan Bay is just one more thing that makes the village so special. So appreciate Ken and everything he does!
