Annex Animal Hospital

I do not recommend using this vet service.My cat was a patient for five years and during that time, I experienced instances of emotional manipulation on behalf of the staff in the form of guilting, fear and pressure. This is a vet that takes advantage of owners' attachment to their pets and the desire to give them the best treatment. In two instances I was left distressed after being given worst-case-scenario outcomes over what turned out to be minor, common and treatable health concerns. I would often examine bill charges because prices there are so high, and have them scaled back. They insisted on treatments that were not necessary, and when I told them I would need a modified treatment plan I could afford, the doctor reacted by suggesting I give up my cat to the Humane Society. After that I asked to see another doctor, and I've now come to believe that this tactic of manufacturing guilt is the clinic's business model.Eventually I chose to go to the Bathurst and Dupont Animal Hospital, and the service could not be more different, with reasonable prices, honest assessments, quality treatment and a welcoming environment. I am glad I had the courage to stand up for myself against this team of exploitive vets, but looking back I should have never had to navigate such difficult situations. Unfortunately, as a result of the experiences I had with AAH, I still struggle with trust issues when it comes to vet care.

I used to visit this Clinic for my dog for the past 12 years. Doctors were nice and caring. However, this has changed, perhaps the pandemia left a mark. I was informed that there was no room to check my dog for a month. Although, I was a customer for 12 years. I was so disappointed that I started looking for a new vet, I found a new one close to my house. The Annex clinic was about 35 minutes drive. Compassion has abandoned this clinic, I never going back.

Dr. Donna is the best veterinarian in the world! She really took the time to help our little kitty Luna going through a sudden heart condition and continues to do everything she can to help. I feel very lucky to have brought her to Annex Animal Hospital with such caring staff. If you have a pet don’t hesitate to bring them here. Thanks to everyone who continues to help us and Luna ❤️

I had been going to Annex Animal Hospital for ten years with my cat prior to my most recent appointment this past summer. They had always provided great care in the past. In July I tried to take my cat for his annual appointment and the vet was very afraid of him and refused to examine him, even though his behaviour was the same normal anxious house cat behaviour it had always been. I just took him to Queen West Animal Hospital and he behaved there exactly how he had behaved at Annex Animal Hospital and Queen West Animal Hospital examined him without any issue, including being able to take blood for annual blood work. It’s unfortunate but Annex Animal Hospital no longer seems to have a vet who can handle anxious cats. FYI if you previously went here and saw Dr. Donna (which I had) know she is no longer with this clinic.

If I could give 10 stars, I would! This was the first vet I've ever used with my own pet (cat), and I will never move to another. I called them a few days after adopting Pumpkin who had a really concerning eye infection. They got me in promptly, and she was treated like one of their own pets. I've been going to them for 3 years now, and each vet we see is amazing. The staff are kind, empathetic, transparent, and understanding. Each member of the team wants what's best for your pet - not what's going to bring them more money. After your visit, it's not like you are left to your own devices, they promptly reach out via email or phone to check on your pet, and ensure that you feel comfortable enough to ask even the silliest of questions.Marianna at the front desk is my favourite part of calling/emailing/visiting. She is welcoming, kind, patient, and goes above and beyond in every (and I mean EVERY) interaction. She even knows pumpkin by heart. Marianna was an amazing help in moving my sensitive sweetheart to England when we encountered a last minute hiccup, and I already can't wait to come back so that we can see her again! If anyone with sway is reading this: she deserves a raise!!!!Thank you, Annex Animal Hospital. I cannot recommend your services enough!!!!!

Got my pet during the pandemic and they were so lovely. We couldn’t go inside (up until last summer) but took great care of him and loved him up when he got neutered and other appointments where I couldn’t be with him. They’d call me after his checkup to chat and are always so informative and patient with any questions!I feel like they care about my pet.

Please note: this review was meant to be posted a while ago. Where to begin. When I say that this is a place of love and kindness, I truly mean it. I don’t ever really take the time to write reviews, but I felt it was important. I brought my little baby to see the team around two years ago. My little guy had liver issues and since finding out, it was visits to emergency rooms and panic attacks constantly because just when it felt like he was okay, he wouldn’t be. Dr. Berman has truly gone above and beyond for us. This past Monday was one of the hardest days of my life. My little guy was put to sleep. A decision I was on the fence about and shamed for (by another vet who won’t be named) I always asked Dr. Berman from the very beginning to always give it to me straight up. To never beat around a bush and tell me if it was good or bad. She always did. She never gave up on my little guy. Her and the team have provided him with the absolute best care any pet owner could have ever asked for. She reassured me about my decisions and truly (and I mean truly) gave me peace of mind. She always told me what was going on and never tried to force me into doing this or that. She had his best interest in mind, always. Something of a rarity to find. I can’t tell everyone how truly amazing her and the team at the Annex Animal Hospital have been. They always found a way for my baby to be seen and in the end, gave him the best care I could’ve asked for. A HUGE thanks to Marianna who fit me on that Friday morning for what would be our last appointment. I was shown a kindness that I had never been shown before when advocating for my little guy. She got me in and I knew it was hard to do but, she did it. I was given the chance to have what I would call the perfect goodbye with my angel. When the time came for him to go, I was fortunate enough to not feel the absolute pain of wondering if I was doing the wrong thing for him. I was able to lay my baby to rest knowing that I did everything I could for him and having the reassurance from Dr.Berman truly aided in what is still an ongoing healing process. So, from the bottom of my heart and the wings of my little angel, thank you. Thank you for giving us the time to say goodbye and for always being there for us when we needed you guys. Thank you. While I can truly never imagine having another cat due to the pain of losing my best friend, I will say this. Once the pain has lessened and I am ready to adopt another cat, I will bring him back here. There isn’t any other team like this one.

The vets and staff here are incredibly patient, kind, and great with my puppy. In fact, my puppy enjoys the vet visits so much, he will pull and cry to try and go inside whenever we walk by. He gets so many treats and pets that he looks forward to going to the vet. They're great with shots and nail clippings and they always prepare treats or food to distract my pup. He doesn't even realize what's happening until it's over. They're also super convenient with payment, great with explaining things like insurance, and as a first time dog owner they gave me a full rundown of things my puppy needs and answered all my questions. Can't recommend them enough!

I switched to this vet in 2020, and am so glad I did. The entire staff is so lovely and treated both my dog and I with such kindness and respect. The clinic is very clean and extremely efficient. The entire appointment (exam, blood work, etc.) took 30 minutes. Little to no wait time before seeing the vet, and I felt heard and not at all rushed during the appointment. The vets here are absolutely amazing! I never feel pressured into any treatments/shots (we know some vets like to push these especially with senior dogs, but that’s not the case here). I’m so lucky to have found this place, and while my dog still hates “going to the vet”, Annex vet made the whole experience as painless as possible. My dog is extremely anxious and I felt the vet treated him so well and did their best to calm his nerves through the exam. Highly recommend.

AAH is the best animal hospital I’ve been to in Downtown. Dr Berman takes really good care of my 2 kitties since they were young. Their price is fair, and they truly take responsibility for your pets, without pushing you to pay unnecessary bills.
