Chartwell Glacier Ridge Retirement Residence

Recently had a chance to tour glacier ridge during the open house. We found it to be one of the warmest and most inviting homes we have seen.As a family we are just in the premlinary planning phase, but was welcomed and treated like family by staff and residents.

After touring every retirement home in Thunder Bay , our family was very impressed with Glacier Ridge… the rooms were well designed with good windows and natural light, the staff were friendly and genuinely helpful and the fellow residents were active and articulate and welcoming.We noticed that many of the staff have been at Glacier Chartwell for quite awhile and our experience was that it was well managed with good people like : Courtney the general manager, Gord who helped us find a great suite, Dawn the nurse, Sherri the office manager, Jennifer the programs expert , the cook, Mark the maintenance manager and staff like Claudia.It’s a big transition to go to a retirement community and residents would approach us at different times and quietly welcome us, introduce themselves and invite us to join the activities that they enjoyed whether it be cards, book club, knitting, walking, puzzles or music.Glacier ridge - Chartwell , surpassed our expectations and we are very happy with our decision to make the move. I believe it will not only extend the life of our dear loved ones , but also improve their already high quality of life.Having lived in 6 cities in Ontario and visited multiple retirement communities for my work, I think Thunder Bay is fortunate to have Chartwell and in particular Glacier Ridge - Chartwell …

We cannot say enough good things about the staff at Glacier Ridge. They ALL go above & beyond with the care & compassion for their residents. They work as a team & have made it a true family" environment. My mom had exceptional care during her stay at Glacier Ridge & we give a huge heartfelt thank you to ALL the staff. My father and I would like to extend to a huge thank you to all of the staff at Chartwell Glacier Ridge. On very short notice, Gord very kindly helped us move my father into a beautiful suite, and Dawn very swiftly and professionally liasoned between multiple doctors and the pharmacy to organize my father's new medications. My father has been at Glacier for one month, and he feels very comfortable in his suite, very appreciative of all the kind hearted staff, and very happy with all of the new friendships made. My 89 year old parents moved into Glacier Ridge in November of 2021 and as you can see from their picture, they were ALL-IN when it came to participating in the Christmas festivities! As a family, we can say it was the best decision we made for their well-being and happiness and they have settled in to their new home very nicely. The staff has been warm and receptive and my parents are embracing their new lifestyle and the many benefits it provides. It is comforting to know they are receiving the daily care and attention they so well deserve. We are extremely grateful for the support provided by Glacier Ridge and the welcome my parents have received.

The Chartwell Glacier Ridge staff has provided exceptional care for my mother since her arrival and especially during the challenging times we now live in. The extra care and compassion consistently shown in keeping the residents healthy and safe is truly appreciated.

I'm sending a big THANK YOU to all staff at Glacier Ridge for their help and kindness while my sister and I were recently removing our mother's apartment contents. It was a difficult time for us and all the considerate gestures and condolences expressed by both staff and residents are very much appreciated.

A big THANK YOU to the staff at Glacier Ridge.I stayed in respite care while recovering from surgery.The staff were so accommodating! All of my daily, take for granted tasks were taken care of, giving me the time I needed to heal.The cleanliness of the building was exceptional and greatly appreciated, especially during the covid-pandemic.I utilized the long carpeted hallways to exercise with my walker, something I could not do outside with the snowy weather.I also took advantage of the piano in the dining hall! What a great instrument to have during my recovery!!I met some truly wonderful people during my stay. I made some wonderful memories and friends.Thanks Glacier Ridge for being an integral part of my healing journey! :)

My mother has been happily and comfortably residing at Glacier Ridge for several years now, and we are indeed so grateful to the administration and staff for their amazing diligence and hard work! The level of care for residents and attention to detail toward ensuring that all of their needs are met, is most excellent! I would not hesitate to highly recommend Glacier Ridge to anyone who is looking for wonderful and extremely well run “home away from home” for their loved ones.

As an only child who lives four hours away, mom and I needed to make sure that she had the help and support that she needed. She loved Glacier Ridge as soon as she walked in. I'll be honest and say that it was a hard transition, however now she is taking part in group activities and is much more social than she was living alone. The staff go above and beyond.
