I must have talked to every rescue in town while looking for a pup to join our family. The team at Rocky Road when above and beyond to help match us with the perfect companion.They take such good care of their dogs and the love is obvious. It was more important to them that they connect us with the perfect dog than to just hand over the first dog we asked about.While we hope it will be years before we might be looking for another dog, we would return and start here without question.Sophia is the perfect pup for our family and that is thanks to this wonderful team.

The adoption process really highlighted their values as an organization and how much they care about the animals. Great support even after everything was finalized. Almost 3 years later, very happy with the whole experience

Such a great rescue. It's entirely run by volunteers that spend so much time and energy helping these animals. I got my dog, Shye, from them a few months ago and the process couldn't have been easier. Thanks again for such a great experience!

My adoption request was declined because, by leaving a dog outside for the day (in an escape-proof 15m by 30m enclosure) until my kids returned from school, I was supposedly denying the dog sufficient human contact. Would it have been better to have the dog inside the house all day?The dog would have had the company of my other dog.In the end, I found another Rescue org and they got me a wonderful lab rescue who is now the best buddy to my first dog.

one of the worst rescue experiences I have had. This rescue has very little communication, when they do they don't really answer any questions that you have, they will not tell you if you are being considered or if your application was denied, i gave pelnty of time and reached out multiple times. There responses were generic and miss informative the few times i did get a response. It's really sad to see that there dogs keep getting adopted and returned, but they say they are dedicated to finding the perfect fit. If you are seriously considering getting a dog I would suggest another rescue.

RRR is a great rescue. Their rating is unfortunately low because some people don't understand how google works. The are volunteer run and have no office, thus did not enter one, so Google gives a generic middle of downtown address like it does for other businesses. Don't be as dumb as the other people who wasted their own time and blamed this rescue for it.

We adopted one of their dogs over a year ago. We have always gone through rescue groups, and have been involved with rescues, and are familiar with processes, fees, etc. We paid a lot of money for our boy - more than usual. We found his shots were not up-to-date and he'd had no flea/tick treatment. We were told he had separation anxiety and had chewed up a couch at his last adoptive home so we proceeded carefully and built up to leaving him alone in the house (he is rarely left alone). He was fine. We discovered after a few months that he had fear anxiety and would attack people coming to the house (note that this was early Covid lockdown time so not many people came to our home during that time). We emailed and asked if there was any further background info on him and received an aggressive, defensive reply. We will never deal with this rescue again, nor recommend them to anyone looking to adopt.

Rocky Road Rescue is a wonderful rescue organization with very knowledgeable, and helpful volunteers. We were lucky enough to rescue Stella from them and will always be grateful. Thank you RRR!

I had never owned a dog before but what encouraged me to give fostering a try were the prospects of changing a dog’s life. I was pained to see how many dogs are looking for a home after being abused/abandoned. Yet so many negative stereotypes on shelter dogs unfairly prevent these intelligent and sweet animals from finding a family.The Ottawa Rocky Road Rescue organization is run by a determined and tenacious band of volunteers brimming with optimism and a can-do spirit. They work very hard to make the transition to becoming a dog foster as seamless as possible. They do not downplay what you could be going through and ensure you are guided every step of the way.I was matched with Pam, a 12-year old dog from Lebanon who had spent half her life at a dog shelter and the other as a street dog. The first weeks were rough and I confess, there were times when I doubted my decision. During those times, I reminded myself that all this dog has in this world is me right now and that at minimum I needed to see my fostering through. Fast-forward two months, Pam has become an official member of our family - yes, my husband and I ended up adopting her.The abuse/abandonment stories of these dogs are heart-breaking and even maddening. I hope I am not alone in believing that the world doesn’t have to be a cold, mean place. The formidable power of fostering is the ability to save a life. I hope you give it a chance.
