Best service I’ve received from a bike shop in ages! Super friendly and knowledgeable

I have a friend who owns a bike shop on the Mainland. I reached out to him to ask who I should see here in Nanaimo. He told me Robin who owns Coal City and another local store. I did pop in to the other place as well, but the service here blew the doors off the other one! From the minute you walk in, it's a great atmosphere. I first went in about a year ago to buy a bike (I'm by no means a hard core biker, just wanted something to get healthy and rip around with my kids who are now on pedal bikes). I had lots of seemingly-to-me stupid questions and couldn't have been treated with more kindness and patience. Figured out what would be a suitable fit for my needs and took one for a spin. Only problem was I needed a L frame and they only had M. They've been out of stock for a year on that one. Just went back in and was greeted with the same warmth and kindness (turned out to be Robin this time!). We had a great chat about a new model that had just come in. Tons of information explained in an easy-to-understand manner. They told me they'd text when it was built (still was in box) and I got a message within a few hours. Went back and left with my new ride! With a clear passion for bikes, super helpful staff, amazing customer service, and free tune-ups for life, I 100% recommend CCC for all your biking needs! Really great experience and can't see why you would ever go anywhere else. Mentioned it to a friend and he said that's where he'd bought his and had the same thoughts. Absolutely smashed it out of the park, Robin and team, this should be the gold level for ALL businesses strive for. Great job! :)

have been coming in for parts for my sons old mountain bike.i was frustrated with his old clunker, walked in and within minutes my son has a new mountain bike. on a Friday. had a small issue with the bike that night, called Saturday morning, in right away, bike fixed, and upgraded, excellent service from the young lady we bought from, excellent and quick professional service from the bike mechanic who repaired it within minutes on the spot. ten out of ten would strongly recommend. they have earned our loyalty and all future business. thank you all very much for the excellent service. very much appreciated.

It's not often that you run into a business that always goes above and beyond like this team does. Recently my wife and I bought bikes and thanks to their very knowledgable staff we were able to find the right ones. I have brought my kids bikes here for years and finally my wife and I decided to start riding. Always AMAZING! Thanks Coal City!.

Since moving to Nanaimo from the Comox Valley I was looking for a bike shop that made me feel like family - and without a doubt I have found that feeling at Coal City Cycles. They are always there to warmly greet you, make sure you’ve been taken care of and do a phenomenal job on any work they’ve done on my bike. The culture here is inclusive and they clearly understand how far good customer service goes towards the overall experience. Thank you for taking such great care of me and my bike ☺️

These folks are my go-to in Nanaimo. I find all of the staff to be knowledgeable and kind, and even when I'm determined to work on my bike they are respectful and supportive.They have a bunch of rider resources on their website, a great rewards program when you buy from them, and do free tune-ups. I'd highly recommend them.

Robin helped to find me the perfect bike. I was after a hardtail and we settled on a Chromag Rootdown. He was always patient with my questions and requests. On collection day he spent his whole afternoon getting it set up just right and customising it for me. This was the most welcome I have ever felt in a bike store and Robin was genuinely stoked for me. He has a great team who are also fun and knowledgeable. I can't recommend this store highly enough. Customer service done right. Bravo!

Robin runs a fabulous little bike store. Knowledgeable, helpful, friendly. Set us up with awesome bike rack mid-roadtrip. Even watered Rufus the sled dog!

Needed parts for a dropper. Shop owner called an off duty employee, got me the parts within an hour and had me back in the BCBR. Great Customer Service and a genuinely good atmosphere. Can’t recommend highly enough.
