Went there last weekend with some friends. They had a very long wait time. Had to give our name and number. They text u to confirm later. We sat outside, they had a lot of heater which was good. I tried to order 2 items, and both were not available. The server said it was sold out. I ordered Taco, Man, for the price it was very small. It was good but it was 14.50 for 2. The palce is chill best come here just to drink and snack.

First time I’ve visited. It so won’t be the last. We had the homemade chips and guacamole as a nice starter to pair with our mezcal margaritas. Full stop that’s reason enough to go. But there’s so much more. Two of us shared a small table on the patio (we specifically chose this place because (1) I love tequila and mezcal (2) Kensington market is rad and (3) dog friendly for my girl Whiskey). We shared two of their tacos: Baja fish tacos and Grilled octopus tacos. We almost came to blows arguing over which was better, so we ordered more mezcal margaritas and found common ground. But we will be back to work our way through the taco options!!The staff are amazingly friendly and laid back. This is not a place to come if you’re rushed Or pretentious, so we loved it on a lovely June afternoon. It’s worth however long it takes you to get there. And don’t worry if it’s too full, they will seat folks at empty seats at tables even if they aren’t in your party. It’s about meeting new people and enjoying good things on the patio!!

I was visiting Toronto with my boyfriend and we were really looking forward to get there. Just getting in, we knew it was our kind of place. We had a warm welcome and sat by the bar for few cocktails, which were well prepared and well balanced. As it is for the food, impecable, and I am peaky for my mexican food! Prices were honest and ambiance was friendly but intime. Thanks to the staff for their hospitality and their way to make our trip even better with a list of places to visit relating to our vibe. Will def come back!J&J

This is a cool spot. We sat inside and loved the vibe. We had the cauliflower tacos and chips and guacamole, their hot sauce is really good so ask for it if like it spiccyy. Great for date night, girls night or anytime.

El Rey was the perfect spot for some Mexican cuisine. Food was incredible and the service was kind and attentive. Great vibes inside and on the patio. Loved the mezcal cocktails. We had the aguachile, birria quesadilla, steak taco, and tres leches cake. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back and would definitely recommend!

We celebrated Mexico’s Independence Day at El Rey Mezcal and had an amazing time. This has probably been the closest restaurant we’ve found when it comes to authentic Mexican flavors and the drinks were really good, especially the margaritas. We had the Chile en nogada which is only served two days a year and we recommend it greatly. Very pleased with our visit.

We were looking for a place late at night and google showed us this oneSpectacular 9/10Here is my reviewFood: 8/10We order:Guacamole and chips: 10/10 Best chips I have ever tried. The guacamole was great.Al pastor tacos: 8.5/10. A must. A little bit spicy but tolerable.Chicken Tinga Tacos: 10/10. My favorite. Love the taco tortilla. Good combination.Birria Quesadillas: 7/10. Good, missing some flavor.Comes with a side sauce out of this world.We paid 60.87$ with taxService: 10/10.What a lovely time.The woman who received us was really welcoming. We waited 10-15 min to get a table.The food was delivered to our table 7-10 minutes after we ordered. A great attitude all the time. Definitely worth the tipPlace: 10/10 It is tiny, but it is a gold mine. Would not change a thing. Decoration is beautiful

Stopped by for a quick bite & drink. The Shrimp tacos and Birria Quesdillas were straight up amazing. Service was kind and quick, that being it's a very busy bar on a sunny weekend. Also ordered the 'Not a daiquiri, daiquiri' and I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, great food, great drinks and staff were wonderful!

What a great place! Great vibes (inside and on the patio), delicious flavourful tacos, yummy “open windows” cocktail recommended by the bar tender, and such lovely happy service! Lance and Thai were so personable and took such good care of us. They don’t take reservations but worth the wait.

An exquisite Mexican bar in Chinatown/Kensignton market. Both the patio and inside look fascinating... actually inside more if you get to sit where I was sitting =) Succulent food and great cocktails, along with chill staff. I can easily spend the whole night here...
