Mountainview Concrete Impressions
Before you think about using this company, you have to read my review. It’s long, but it’ll save you the cost of learning a very expensive lesson. We have done research about this company AFTER the fact and have discovered that the photos on their website are stolen (not their work), the photos show SEALED concrete which you will NOT receive, and they’re way more expensive than other local companies (which we should have been more aggressive about researching). We met Mr. Greg Carriere when he responded to our request for a quote regarding a concrete patio. We wanted a coloured & stamped patio; he showed us a colour and texture in a catalogue he brought and gave us a quote. My wife and I decided to go ahead and pay the deposit. The day they started pouring concrete is the day we realized our error. They only poured ⅔ of the patio. We were assured that more concrete would arrive tomorrow and they would finish the job. The remaining ⅓ was poured at a different time, from a different supplier, looking visibly different than the original ⅔. Worse, the colour was slightly darker than a sidewalk and the ‘texture’ wasn’t stamped; they used rollers to apply the texture. It looked like someone had vacuumed a carpet; there were roller lines everywhere.Based on getting a colour we didn’t want, a patio that was two shades of grey, and a lousy texturing job, we refused to pay the balance and got into a minor war of attrition with Mountainview. Without discussing, they booked a day to come out and ‘cap’ the patio. We sought expert advice and were told that while a cap was possible, it would need to be executed in a precise way in order to be permanent and not succumb to the elements or crack under external pressure. Having already seen the quality of work from this company, we refused.Eventually Mr. Carriere came out to look at the job done. He insisted the job looked great. He explained that there was a miscalculation from “the girl at the office” which is why not enough concrete was delivered. He offered us 2 choices; 1) jackhammer it up and redo the whole thing. 2) Take $1000 + tax off and he would have “his guy” tint the concrete. We called another concrete company for advice. They informed us that we weren’t the first to call regarding lousy quality from Mountainview. They explained that nobody uses rollers but mats.My wife & I decided that both offers were unacceptable. The $1000 was insulting and we would have to live with something that we hated, and based on work already done, we didn’t trust them to do the patio over again. We reverse image searched the photos of Mountainview’s “work” that is featured on their website & Facebook. Turns out every photo can be found elsewhere on the internet. We emailed them to tell them that we rejected both offers and felt he misrepresented his company & their scope/ability of work. They came back with the promise that they would redo the patio in the correct colour, and using mats. We sought legal advice and were advised to give them the chance to correct the mistake. We responded with explicit expectations of a new patio. They responded with a date. The redo of the job admittedly looks better, but there are still flaws. There is splattered concrete on our foundation, nevermind the condition they left our yard in. I am informed other companies clean up as a matter of routine. A few hours after the work was completed they called and had the gall to ask for payment and were indignant, as if we had done something wrong. Before we agreed to pay, we asked when it would be sealed. Surprise! They don’t seal! Every photo on their website shows glossy stamped concrete but they don’t provide that.We were completely taken advantage of. We are responsible for our actions and are very embarrassed, but we’re sharing our story in an effort to warn others. If you’re looking for anything to do with concrete, please reconsider using this company.

Please do yourself a favour and pick any concrete company other than this one. If I could go back in time and pick a different company, I would. First thing you should be aware of is that the company does not seal their concrete. Stamped/coloured concrete MUST be sealed per all concrete experts, so the fact that they don't provide this service is questionable. We have since learned that sealing the concrete is something that is included in the price when booking with any professional concrete company. Mountainview will argue that you are made aware of this at the time of the quote, which isn't true. We didn't find out about the lack of sealing until after the job was completed, when we inquired as to when the patio would be sealed. They WILL recommend another company (an asphalt company) to come in and seal, but given the issues we've had with Mountainview, we don't trust anyone they recommend. They are also sloppy with their work. They don't have enough experience to do the job correctly. We have contacted 4 other concrete companies to come out and give quotes regarding sealing the patio and all 4 have noticed the same flaws in the patio, which says to me that Mountainview doesn't have the knowledge to do the job properly. We had to have the patio done twice as the first patio looked extremely unprofessional. We were much happier with the result of the patio once it was redone, but after hearing the opinions of actual concrete professionals who came to look at it, we are left angry that yet again we received a product that is not up to the professional standard many other concrete companies in the area provide. When 4 other companies are all saying the same thing, and pointing out the same flaws, it's hard not to believe them over Mountainview. We are NOT happy with the patio, but at this point it's clear they just don't know what they're doing and we don't want to deal with them further. I wish we had the money to have it re-done by a professional company who produces quality work, but unfortunately our patio is just something we're going to have to live with. Please reconsider ever using this company. If you research them you'll discover our situation is not unique; we have found others who also used this company who had similar issues and also received sub-par products. You will also discover that all the photos on their website and Facebook have been stolen from other websites around the internet. None of the work you see is theirs.Honestly, if you choose this company you will end up paying more for something that isn't anywhere near the quality of product you will receive from a number of concrete companies in this area. Especially once you factor in that you have to get it professionally sealed by someone else after the fact. Going with this company will cause you nothing but stress and aggravation.

Amazing work! I’m not to sure what went wrong with the other reviews. But the three young men whom did my concrete slab were amazing, and professional. I loved the stamp work that was applied, and fairly priced. Kudos to Mountainview for their excellent service, keep up the good work!
