Columbia Garden Village

Two years ago I would have given a great review but things are going downhill at Ivy House.From my understanding since there is new management At Columbia House and Ivy House, staff are leaving and they are short staffed. Now the air conditioning isn't working and there doesn't seem to be a rush to fix it despite the 30+ Celsius weather.My brother in law wrote a letter to the management about this and their answer was dismissive.Would you want your aging parent when their lives are on fast forward being in this situation?What used to be a lovely place for our elderly loved ones has diminished from 5 stars to 1 star.

I would give Ivy House ZERO stars if I could. Staff are lazy (except for the Recreation Worker). Can not call your senior on the weekends, they tell you that you are a trigger" if they can't manage the senior. Would not even shave my dad or help him with his dentures. I wouldn't put my dog in this place let alone my loved one. My dad broke his hip in Ivy House so that shows you how much they look after the residents. My dad's doctor wouldn't even let him go back there after he could of been released from the hospital. She kept him in the hospital until he could be moved to a new facility. Thank goodness I got him the hell out of there! Worst possible place ever!!!Golden Life Management also has a terrible accounting system. Debiting accounts for wrong amuonts. Taking whatever they think they can. The whole place is a huge disaster!Stay far far away from this place!!!"

*** updated November 2022. ***A once mighty vessel, is becoming a sinking ship. It appears by my visit.Staff are leaving the ivy house side & quitting according to them.Management issues big time from what I’ve been overhearing. Must be true, because i have seen the same staff working in the morning still there when i visit in the evening.So far momma likes it there, she said the staff is wonderful and friendly. hopefully we can say the same going forward, if any staff remains??Update November 2022.The staff are excellent. But my disgust in management locally and head office is unreal.They blame staff shortages which is not true. Some nurses are working 16 hour days, aids are working double shifts and A couple housekeepers at one time had to serve breakfast. It is the staff that have true caring intentions toward seniors.I would suggest that if you plan on placing your seniors here, whether as a permanent resident, first available bed or even respite care, I would avoid this place at all costs. Which is sad our community really needs a safe place for the seniors.
