The worm bins are very well constructed and produce a nice cedar smell. The wood does seem to help the system breath better than plastic options I have used in the past as there is very little liquid that pools at the bottom. There is no unpleasant odour, just a nice earthy smell. It's incredible to see the results and has been a great experience to share with my kids. Akil is super knowledgeable and is working very hard to develop a community of like-minded people hoping to find ways to contribute to a better environment.

The Box of Life community composting center is a wonderful place dedicated to promoting sustainable living practices. Located among coffee shops and pizza spots round almost every corner in Little Italy, you will be greeted and with plenty of greenery and fresh air, which creates a relaxing and serene atmosphere.The composting process was explained in great detail, and visitors were encouraged to actively participate in the process. The center provided a variety of composting methods, including both indoor and outdoor options, and visitors were given hands-on training on how to set up and maintain a compost pile.Akil and his team at the center were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and were always willing to answer any questions and provide guidance to visitors. They were also very passionate about their work, and it was evident in the way they talked about the benefits of composting.Overall, I would highly recommend this composting community center to anyone interested in learning more about green practices. It was a great experience, and I left feeling inspired and motivated to make changes in my own life to reduce waste and help protect the environment.

Had a great time building my own vermicomposter at a workshop. Akil is super knowledgeable, and very passionate about the subject of worm composting and the affect it has on the ecosystem. I'd highly recommend signing up for a workshop, or just dropping by and getting familiar with the worms!

We bought a Box of Life last year and we really like the product. We have always composted and recycled before, but it feels great to be able to cut out the middleman and make our own fertilizer from our own food scraps right in our own kitchen. The box is made of cedar and doesn't smell AT ALL, which is something I would expect from a huge box of food scraps in the middle of our kitchen. We have recommended the product to friends and family because of this. Box of Life has a Discord group for all the vermicomposters and it is a great place to get advice, answer questions, and see how others are doing with their boxes. The founder of Box of Life is very engaged and you can tell he is very passionate about and invested in the product and sustainability in our community! Thanks Akil!

I'm very happy with my Box of Life vermicomposting setup. It's well built, tidy, and has genuinely no smell, other than the occasional scent of damp cedar. As an apartment dweller, I don't have many options for composting, but as a balcony gardener, I'm thrilled to have my own source of rich organic material to keep my plants happy.
