I bought a new guitar and feel like it’s not easy to play. I brought it into the shop and had a warm welcome. Graham explained the problem to me patiently and fixed it for me. He could easily charge me and I would happily paid. He didn’t charge me anything even though I interrupted his work. I really appreciate his help and would recommend him to everyone who needs work on their guitar. Graham deserves 6 starts out of five because he is going above and beyond as a business owner.

Graham worked on my Blue Ridge Acoustic dreadnought. The guitar is about 14 years old and had been played frequently during that whole period. Consequently it needed work on the frets, neck and bridge. Also some of the tuning pegs were loose. The guitar plays like new again and the lowered action on the fret board makes it a joy to play. Thanks Graham

Graham was fast, honours working musicians’ schedules, reasonable rates, and a clear passion for his work. Convenient location for me, and a nice fella!

I brought my classical guitar in because I felt the action was too high. Graham said that it was borderline high and wanted to be sure that I wanted it lowered. He was able to sand down the bridge for me right away and said that there was no charge. I, of course, paid him.I appreciated his time and thoughtful advice. I am happy with the guitar as it plays now and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

I had taken my new guitar in for a setup and to have a bone nut installed. I would not return and found that he unnecessarily damaged the guitar.I found Graham initially very personable and detailed oriented. I had trouble communicating the action I wanted and had to take it back a second a time. I found it was very hard to get a hold him over email to get a follow up and needed to book a new appointment.I had adjusted the action to the height I liked and asked if he could reset the intonation a second time. The guitar has a wraptail bridge and he proceeded to turn the saddle screws without loosening the string tension. I pointed out that he should not do that and he insisted it was fine. I later found that the intonation screws had dug into the saddle screws and small strips of metal were falling out. Also the bridge was dented from his use of a large screwdriver to make adjustments.Additionally, I found a small dent in the back of the neck, most likely from the vice used when the nut was replaced. It would have been nice if he had taken more care or pointed this out when I picked the guitar up.I had to fix the setup again myself, after paying and I would not take the guitar back to him again. If it was older and banged up a bit I would not mind so much, but it was brand new when I took it in and this was the first setup done.I had a 5 star review up earlier, before the last visit and noticing these issues with the guitar. I don't mind paying more for good work, but for what was charged I expected more unfortunately.

Graham was really great to work with on a set up of my Martin 000-40S. He was responsive, timely, and really good at communicating his diagnosis and plan of action. I was having intonation problems and needed my guitar fixed by a specific date for a recording session. Graham was able to fix the issue on time and improve the overall playability of the guitar. I was really impressed by the work and highly recommend him!

Graham turned my inexpensive Hamer guitars into very playable instruments. The initial consult was a full half hour and no detail was left out. Setups were done quickly and as expected. Nut work excellent as well. Highly recommended luthier. I will be back for sure!

Graham Miller owner of 1985 Guitars is a highly trained, meticulous, and experienced luthier. Graham took my road worn, left handed Fender strat, Fender tele, and Furch acoustic guitar and gave them back their voices. What a difference!!All instruments play better, look much better, and sound like they never have before. Thank you Graham for taking all my left handed instruments, and fixing all those details. They came back to life, and I am very happy. In fact I brought him 3 more troubled examples in need of luthier attention. The prices were very reasonable as well.

I've brought one of my guitars out to Graham several times, and he's sorted me out every time. He always does a great job explaining what the issue is and talking about what he's doing as he fixes it.Anytime I have an issue with a guitar and need it sorted quickly and professionally, I won't hesitate to bring it to Graham and neither should you. Highly recommended.
