Dr. Badii is an amazing doctor. He and his assistant were very kind to me when I had issues. He referred me to a fantastic surgeon and now I feel I never was sick.

Dr. Badii and I met for a specialist appointment (assessment of injury for a legal case) in June 2022 which left me with some concerns about his professionalism. There was a major discrepancy between the projected time of the examination (2-3 hours) and the actual course of the appointment. I arrived promptly at his clinic at 9am, waited at the empty receptionist's desk for some time, eventually found Dr. Badii's secretary, and was told that he had not yet arrived in the office. Thirty-five minutes later, a hurried Dr. Badii came to the waiting area to fetch me—no acknowledgement of his lateness, and certainly no apology—and we began our conversation at around 9:40am. The appointment lasted less than an hour and he showed me out at around 10:30am in the same abrupt manner in which he arrived.Dr. Badii began the examination by asking me very general questions about my health. As I answered, he searched around for my case materials and then began flipping through them, skimming each page and putting stickies here and there. As I continued narrating, he continued reading and would periodically interrupt me to ask questions that increasingly seemed to repeat material that I had already covered. At one point, he phased out of our conversation completely, nodding along absent-mindedly as he answered an email on his computer. When he turned his attention back to the conversation, it was clear that he had not heard my answer to his last question, which he then went on to ask once more. At another point, he became so engrossed in separating stickies from each other that he seemed unable to hear what I was asking him. After what seemed like a full minute of him struggling with the task, my daughter, who had come with me to the appointment, stood up and offered to help him, at which point he handed her the stickies and declared that he was finished with asking questions. As for the physical examination, I can only say that it was extremely pro forma. He asked me to do a forward and backward bend, raise my arms and rotate my neck, then he checked the joints in my hand and used a tool to knock on my knees and ankles. He did not ask about where I felt pain in my back, nor did he, as I imagine is customary in examinations of mid- and lower back, press down on any of those points of pain that I had reported during the oral part of our interview. The physical exam lasted two minutes, three minutes at most. There is nothing I can say for or against Dr. Badii's medical qualifications, but the way this appointment was handled leaves me with some concern about the level of professionalism he brings to his practice. I have seen multiple specialists over the years. This kind of behaviour during an appointment is something I have never encountered before, and it falls far short of what even my family doctor, overworked and overbooked as she is, brings in terms of attention and courtesy to each of her patients.

The specialist lists a 1-2 week wait time, but his office doesn’t respond to referrals by a fellow doctor’s office, follow up calls to get an appointment by the potential patient and doctor’s office, nor picks up the phone after repeated attempts and messages over 5 weeks.
