Amica Somerset House

This place is amazing. My mother has settled in incredibly well. The welcome offered to her as a newcomer was lovely: friendly staff, and a hospitality table at mealtimes. The respite suite offered to her on short notice was invaluable to us. She has raved about the chef and meal presentation. Her freshly renovated suite is furnished with touches of home. It’s an easy walk-out to the garden for her beloved dog. She is happy, her health has improved immeasurably, and we are so grateful.

My sisters and I are delighted to see our mum flourishing in her new home, welcomed and supported! I can’t say enough good things about Amica!

Amica Somerset House is a wonderful independent living setting. The staff are great, friendly, patient, respectful and caring. They go above and beyond to keep my mom safe, healthy and happy. My mom is very lucky! Thanks Somerset Team :)

My mother has been living at Amica Somerset for two years now and I appreciate the special care she receives from all of the staff. Everyone from the kind workers who support her with housekeeping and daily medication delivery, to the dining room staff who remember all her many dietary restrictions, to the careful driver of the sightseeing bus and the ones who provide entertainment, exercises, films, singing and even painting classes, not forgetting to mention the front reception staff, building maintenance and the management - everyone is very attentive and competent!They went to great lengths to kept everyone safe during Covid, and when there was a heat wave in Victoria a month ago the residents were encouraged to stay in the cool basement with a steady supply of food and entertainment!Somerset House is indeed a friendly place, one that my mom now happily calls home.

They have been under construction/ renovation for over 18 months. Very slow to get finished and is frustrating for residents who pay so much per month to be subjected to live in a construction zone and have to endure significant noise.If you are thinking of moving in, DON'T until construction is done.The distant management team, who are in Toronto don't seem to care about the residents.

The staff and management have been fantastic. They have provided my mom with outstanding physical care and have supported her emotionally when needed. My mom loves the activities and is delighted by the fabulous meals. 5 Stars for sure!

I was warmly welcomed to Somerset House by a very special resident. She made sure l met others and soon l felt at home. Everyone mingles well and becomes part of the family.I love the view of the ocean from the dining room. The renovations have updated the residence and brought more light.I enjoy the exercise programs and especially love swimming in the pool.At a time of shortages our meals have still been delicious.Even with Covid we have been able to play games safely.I truly love it here.

My parents moved to Somerset 6 months ago after a year of struggling with isolation and community program shut downs. The improvement in their lives is amazing. They are surrounded by support, friendship, and community. They have become involved in so many activities, I have to check their schedule before I visit or I will miss seeing them! An amazing way for seniors the enrich their lives!
