We booked a private party of 25ppl in the curtained space. We had a great time, the food was amazing and the staff met all of our needs. Zimu was a great help in the planning process, and we are grateful how easy the entire experience was. We continue to be Sumiao superfans and we’ll be back with groups large and small!

Got the dine out boston menu here this week. Although good portions and delicious food. 2 points off because I asked for mild chicken and my GF wanted spicy and they swapped them. Thankfully I can eat spicy but imagine if I couldn’t. Service was fair as well. I’ve come here before years ago when they opened and found it to be overly spicy as well. I realize it’s the style of cuisine however I asked for mild and my mouth was on fire — you can see the leftover chilis in my bowl once I put the rest of the chicken in my to go box.

This was a unique dining experience for us. Very interesting flavor combos across all dishes (we had 5). Cocktails were perfect too. Jazz band on Thursday eve was nice touch. Server was top notch.

Good restaurant with very good cocktails. If you’re in town for restaurant week, definitely try this place. Wings were interesting, crispy but too much peppercorn flavor and not enough of the numbing effect. The beef was good and so was the pork belly. The desserts were eh. Not that great. Good service.

Went as a part of Dine Out Boston. We ordered shrimp shumai (decent by a bit bland in taste) and spicy cucumber (more sweet tha spicy) as starters, their golden soup and the hot and sour soup (both were ok). The best part of the Dine Out menu were entrées - we got the popcorn chicken and the spicy cauliflower. We chose the cauliflower to be “authentic” spicy and the chicken to be “regular” spicy, but they seemed to be mixed up as the spiciest was definitely the chicken so look out for that! We also ended up waiting for rice a bit longer than expected, while the main dishes were already at the table.Conclusion - while the entire menu is long and can be a bit overwhelming, there are definitely some good dishes to be had there, but not everything is on the same level.

It will be hard to find a place that has more authentic Mala Hunan food. For the real Hunan Chinese experience ask your server for authentic spice" and send your taste buds on a trip round the world"

Very busy but some of the best fried rice I've ever had in my life! (Wok fried rice) The scallion pancakes were also very good and flaky.

Strong restaurant near Kendall Square T stop. The salted egg yolk pumpkin, chili chicken, and sautéed greens were very good. I found the hunan street noodles with meats to be bland and salty. The pork belly was okay but not my favorite as someone who only likes pork on specific occasions. Don’t come here with people who don’t like spicy food. We got some items “mild” and I felt they were too mild, bordering on low flavor. The service here is very good.

A peppy place for eating with friends/family just off of Kendal Square block in Cambridge. Their spice scale goes from mild to extremely hot, so I recommend this place if you enjoy zesty food. It also offers a variety of vegetarian food and bar seating.

Lunch specials are great.Portions are not to big but this way you can try several dishes and share them as well. Good selection of drinks. Service with a smile.
