Fergies Fish N Chips
The fries from this place were amazing, 5 stars, but the fish was very bad. I ordered the pickerel and chips and was disappointed with the taste, smell, and texture of it. It feels as though it was deep fried from frozen and allowed to “sweat” through the batter. Was very difficult to eat as every bite felt like it was gushing lake water in my mouth.

Aweful! I ordered the Halibut with a side poutine. Served me raw fish so they remade it for me. Raw the second time!If your gonna do something a second time, be sure to do it right at least. Very disappointed as I really enjoy Halibut.Poutine was good but that's all.Sad really because the batter had a nice texture.

This is my new go-to fish and chips place! The fish were expertly fried, to perfect doneness, it maintains airiness, and not overly greasy. The tartar sauce was great. The fries were also properly done, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Would highly recommend, I can't believe I've slept on this place for so long. Now if only they had some healthier options......

I chose the cod. Fish was perfectly cooked! Lightly battered and seasoned incredibly well. The fries, while a little a little soggy when I started eating them, were still close to perfection. One of the best fish n’ chips I’ve had!

Probably the best place in The Forks for food.Three types of fish to choose from: Cod, Pickerel and Halibut. Everything is prepared on a regular basis, so everything is fresh and crispy.We opted for cod and it was probably the best choice. The fish is juicy and delicious. We didn't find a single bone in any of the pieces. The dishes are served with tartar sauce and a piece of lemon. Additionally You can choose ketchup or HP sauce in the amount you need.I highly recommend it, at these prices for a complete dish it is really good choice in The Forks.

The food was good and I saw the awards for the chowder on the wall so I had a bowl and enjoyed it too. The fries were good and seasoned well with more than just salt. I couldn’t get through all the fries because they load it up.

This fish n chips is good but not great. Had the single meal with chowder and fries. The chowder is a fish and shrimp stew. The taste is good but it’s not a “chowder”Pickerel was small but good. Fries were good. I would gladly trade 2/3 of the fries for a bigger piece of fishFish not pictured

The Hearty Pickerel is so good . And serving is huge . I have no idea the serving size so I added 2 more which shouldn’t be . But anyhow , the fish is really good but the not the chips or fries. I didn’t eat it.

Expect long line ups. The way they package the good order is unique and I suppose more the british way. Starting off with the chowder - if you like something fishy tasting...it definitely hits that mark but beyond that it tasted more like fish + water. Let alone, there is a LOT of misc seafood contents in it but it just lacks flavour and creaminess. Not soemthing I would order again. The fish and chips comes with three options of fish: cod, pickerel or halibut and prices reflect upon the fish you choose. The fries were good/decent . The pickerel was a thin yet large piece of fish with mild fish taste to it. Their tartar sauce is something I would rave the most about. Meanwhile their gravy was ok. It worked well with the fries.

What can I say. Real fish, real chips…not too much batter. Real lemons to squeeze on top! Best fish and chips I’ve ever had and I’ve visited over 36 countries in my travels! A must try if you are in Winnipeg!
