Food Quality: 1 StarCustomer Service: 0 StarRestaurant Ambience: 1 StarValue: 0 StarOverall: 0.5 StarsAs a self-proclaimed connoisseur of Japanese cuisine, I was eagerly looking forward to indulging in the all-you-can-eat extravaganza at Syogun Sushi in Markham, Ontario. Little did I know that my dining experience would quickly take a nosedive, leaving me with a bitter taste in my mouth, and not just from the lackluster food.Let's start with the service, or should I say lack thereof? The waitstaff seemed to be in a state of perpetual hibernation, completely oblivious to our existence. Empty plates piled up on our table like a game of culinary Jenga, and getting their attention for a refill or a simple request was like trying to catch a ninja on caffeine. It was a masterclass in invisibility, and I almost considered waving a white flag to surrender! To add insult to injury, customers who came in after us were left stranded without any service and eventually walked out in frustration. But did the waitstaff even care? Not a chance! It was as if we were in a parallel universe where the laws of customer service did not apply.Speaking of the food, I was left utterly unimpressed. The cooked dishes from the all-you-can-eat menu were as tasteless as a cardboard sandwich. It was like the chef had taken a vow of flavorlessness, and the lack of effort and attention to detail was painfully evident. The sushi, which is supposed to be the pièce de résistance of a Japanese restaurant, was nothing to write home about. The fish was not as fresh as I had hoped, and the rolls lacked any semblance of creativity or uniqueness, they were as generic as a basic white T-shirt. It felt like the chef was simply going through the motions, without putting any heart or soul into the dishes. It was a sad day for sushi lovers like myself. As if the lackluster service and tasteless food weren't enough, the restaurant itself was an icy cold cavern. It felt like the heat was on vacation or playing hide-and-seek, leaving us shivering in our seats. It's as if the restaurant had a secret competition going on for the Chilliest Restaurant of the Year" award. To make matters worse

I will not come to this location ever again! :)I am actually here right now and was denied dine-in service, YET after I came in, people came in asking for dine-in and were seated. Why wasn’t I seated? Was I not seated because I am not of their descent? They exchanged a conversation with them in their own language and got seated, while we got told it was “only take-out”! Service was not good at all, I am very disappointed in how we were treated and I hope they can improve their customer service and generosity.

Not sure why the lower overall rating - maybe from old reviews since their business has changed over the years. The takeout sushi right now is great. It’s of course not high end sushi but nonetheless still great. I ordered three sets of nigiri and sushi rolls (48 pcs) and for what you get for the the price I think it’s best in Markham. There is one other takeout place close by which is a bit more expensive , and that is the only other place I ever order from but since they were closed I gave Syogun a try and I will order again next week. Rice is avg but most importantly the fish is good and they have good rolls. All I want from a sushi takeout restaurant are good rolls, good fish on par with the competition, and overall good quality and portion. Excuse my bad photo, was really hungry!

Finally open for all you can eat , amazing services. I visited over the weekend, and the sushi and service were both excellent. The food was fantastic, and the server kept asking if I needed anything. Price was reasonable, and I had two hours to order as much time as I wanted. I can't wait to visit my pal there again. Thank you to the kind owners and staff.

We dined in around 10pm and did the AYCE. It was a very poor dining experience. From the beginning we had to wait a very long time to even see a menu, because the front of house was staffed by only a couple people and they were taking a ton of uber orders. I don't understand why businesses do this. If you can't give your dine-in customers a good experience, you'd better turn them away. I sympathize with the fact that they may have been understaffed, but these difficulties should not be passed on to the customerOnce we had the menu and started ordering things did not improve. The restaurant was dreadfully quiet and very dimly lit. People from the kitchen were coming out to chat with the front of house staff. We paid more than $50 per person for just the dinner AYCE (after tax and tip). The food in general was edible, but not good at all.The AYCE menu specifies how many pieces come with an item but the kitchen totally ignored it. We only ordered 1 scallop and 1 oyster (to sample) and 1 piece of salmon carpaccio, but instead we got 4 oysters, 4 scallops and a whole plate of carpaccio. Of course, none of it was good, so after trying just a piece of each we are left feeling like we're responsible for finishing the food we definitely didn't ask for.

Take out Review:We ordered their Valentine’s Day special Deluxe Box for $42. We also shared their Instagram post and got the premium sushi combo, as well as Syogun Roll, Black Dragon Roll and Vegetable tempura. We were so surprised at how fresh the quality of the sashimi was. They were very generous as well as the box included toro, scallop, sweet shrimp, squid, bluefin AND salmon belly sashimi and sushi. So tasty!!We also enjoyed the one of the rolls in the box where they added truffle. Love truffle and it worked well. I went to pick up at 5:30 pm and there was no one dining in. The other side of the restaurant was full of clutter which is a bit off putting to look at if dining in.Otherwise I would order this again!

I visited there on Sunday. I had to wait for 30 minutes, but the food was wonderful once I got there. The restaurant was really full, with ten people in front of me. Shout-out to the chefs and the lady owner. I can promise anyone who hasn't tried it that they're missing out on some of Markham's greatest sushi. I marks my words. Fantastic owner! 100 recommendations

Got a takeout sushi platter and it was decent. Sushi and sashimi seemed fresh and very strong wasabi, which is good. Nothing out of the ordinary. Not amazing but not bad either for a good price. Can't comment on the dine in

For its price, I have to give it a 4. Don’t expect great sushi because you get what you paid for. Their basics are to the point. Very fair. I’ve been to other sushi places where they over charge you for something very simple. If you dine in, do not expect service. Again, you get what you paid for. It’s all fair. Definitely go for their take out. It’s very affordable.

Not sure why this place only has a 3.8 star rating because I think they definitely deserve more than that. We came really late at night so we were worried maybe they wouldn’t serve us but they were so welcoming and friendly. We had miso soups, sashimi, crab salad, salmon tataki and some rolls and everything was good. We were too full to order dessert but I need to order the black sesame ice cream next time I go. It’s pretty rare to see so I was surprised they had it.
