Hotel Senator

The character and charm make this historic hotel a most pleasant stay. The cleaning staff are top-notch while the front desk staff are like a second family. They are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to getting around the city too. I couldn't have ask for a better place to stay thanks to all of them. I highly recommend this hotel.

A lovely old building, well kept and in walking distance of food and shopping.Quiet and comfortable.Daytime parking is not great as it is downtown.

If you appreciate history and historic architecture you will love this place. Has it's own private patio overlooking the street, which is a nice place to socialize and have a few drinks. Perfect location and the restaurant and pub attached to it is fantastic.

The service here was top notch. Dinesh was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond. Rooms are solid, location is central.

Had soup (no crackers or a bunch offered) Had blackened chicken Ceasars salad ( salad dressing was disgusting! blackened chicken was excellent ) server was nice despite not offering crackers or a bunch with soup.

Over 110 years old, the lobby and pub have that comforting aroma of old polished wood trimmings. The pub is cozy and inviting. Food and brews were great, in ample portions, as is typical for the Prairies.

When we checked in our room was dirty which was no problem because we got switched to a different room, however, the next day we wanted house keeping so we left the sign on the door and we saw the house keeper cleaning the other rooms. When we came back several hours later our room wasn't cleaned at all, which was really disappointing. We also would have liked a fitted sheet on the bed as there is just a flat sheet covering the mattress. There is a Freddy Krueger cut out in the room across from us which is a little odd...

If I did not have to give one star to review on accommodation they would not even get this. In my years of travel I have never experienced such rude reception. To add if your definition of breakfast is more than a muffin, fruit and coffee, ask before booking. Do not be fooled into believing that you will receive toast or cereal at a minimum. They over charged the pre auth above there advertised, and to top it off the cold water failed in the shower. All this could be dealt with professionally if they would address the issue, however response at reception when we asked to talk to management was that management were not interested. It is obvious that management has set the culture hear and there admin is following suit.

Look, Hotel Senator has some rough edges, but it's also just a classic, perfect, downtown establishment. Highly recommend it, endlessly charming, bizarrely wide corridors. Cannot recommend enough!
