I had been calling since September thinking I was going to get the two chimneys clean ahead of the big fall rush. I left message after message for weeks on end. Never even had the decency to call. I tried one more time and the lady on the answering machine was telling people to be patient and that they are very busy. I left a message again and still never had a return call to even say that they could not do the work. Maybe Lewis is stuck in the chimney somewhere and can't reach his cell phone to call anybody. Don't waste your time. I ended up getting a guy from Huntsville to come the following week.

I really don’t complete reviews too often but felt it was important to complete this one. L.M. Chimney Services Inc was recommended by my real estate agent to complete A WETT (Wood Energy Technology Transfer) inspection of my wood burning stove for the sale of my property. He came to do the inspection and said that there wasn’t enough clearance between the wall and chimney it should be 2 inches and we only had 1.5 inches. He said the repair would be $200 and if he had to replace the chimney around $1200. When he spoke to the real estate agent the pricing went from $200 to $1200 and the chimney replacement went from $1200 to $2000. At this point since the property was sold in less than a week, we had no choice….and LM Chimney knew it. He scheduled himself to come Monday 9am and complete the repair, Monday 9am came and went no show I called him and left a message. He called me back and said due to the rain he would arrive around 2pm once the rain had stopped. The rain stopped and 2pm came an went but L.M. Chimney was again a no show and no call. After several messages to LM Chimney he finally called at 4pm and said he would be there in a half hour at 5pm LM Chimney arrived and told me what he was going to do and left. Said he would be back Wednesday. Wednesday LM Chimney came and took the chimney down I kept asking him, “is the chimney OK” he said “he needed to inspect it”, all pieces now lined up on the ground. Shortly after that he said he needed to go and get a 24-inch piece to go through the wall and by the way a whole new chimney. At that point I asked why the chimney needed replacing he said it was too heavy. I asked if the pieces were weighed and he just screamed at me saying that he was the professional and if I wanted the WETT inspection certificate that the chimney had to be replaced. He called the real estate agent complaining that I was questioning him. To ensure the deal held together the real estate agent came and played buffer since LM Chimney was threating to leave with the hole in the roof and chimney on the ground. He ended up replacing the chimney with a different colour but left pieces of mine so now it’s a missed match chimney where it used to be a beautiful chrome chimney. Also, one of the sections he installed is dented.I spoke to another chimney professional to get input on how you know when a chimney requires replacement and he said “Rust, holes, pitting” nothing about weight and actually laughed when I told him why mine was replaced. He also said typically these chimney’s last 30 to 50 years mine was 15 years old.I do not think for a minute that my chimney required replacement and LM Chimney knew the property was sold and we had no choice.My advice if you are selling a property have the purchaser responsible for the WETT inspection, if that is not possible as soon as you sell, get an inspection and leave yourself time to get a second opinion. I believe my chimney was replaced for no reason other than a money grab.I would not recommend LM Chimney to anyone.
