Needed a fuel filter for our sailboat, as we used our last one (and you should always carry a spare!) and we were away from our own port. Kim found one for us but the delivery person forgot to deliver it, so she drove to Nanaimo to grab one for us! Yes, customer service above and beyond! Thank you, Kim...you saved our vacation!

Terrible service, the owner Doug is a scam artist. Make sure you get anything he promises you on paper with prices and dates.He will tell you one price, then when it's time for your boat to go back in the water the price will be jacked up 2-3x with all sorts of extra fees.And he will hold your boat hostage refusing to re-launch it until you've paid his scam bill.Stay far away

Do your self a favor and find a another boat yard you well be paying full price for work that's done by non certificate license journeymen and the place is also infested with rats and I mean the 4 legged kind . I was a customer and also was one of the boat yard workers that would do work on the customer's boat and knowing that Doug would charge full labour price by non certificate license journeymen didn't set well with me ,find another boat yard .

My outboard on Galiano Island had a hydraulic steering fluid leak.. Doug West of Ladysmith Marine Service came from Ladysmith by boat to Galiano and fixed it immediately. This saved me a huge hassle as mechanics are hard to find in the Gulf Islands. Thank you so much Doug. What unbelievable service!!!!

We had an engine cooling pump fail. We called and they said they were busy but would try and get to it quickly. We arrived mid afternoon and were repaired by mid afternoon the following day. They did a good job and at a fair price. Thanks to Doug and his team for getting us back on the the water quickly and with good service and support.

Don't typically write reviews for boatyards, but wish I had known a few things before I went to this one. I would agree with some of the other reviewers in that Doug seems like a nice fellow and I didn't have an issue with billing or the cost of services. I did most of the work myself, but did have them change my fuel filters as purging can be a messy job. Unfortunately, they didn't do that, said it wasn't necessary so i left with one engine sputtering badly, but fortunately it did recover. Gotta love Hino's.What I wish I had know was that the boat is precariously trailered into place, pressure washed over a tarp that remains in place. As a result you are working on top of the dregs from the bottom of the boat. Clean up from the crew was minimal and only done when I asked it to be done. They left the garbage can filled with debris beside the boat, so I had the pleasure of smelling rotting fish and flies all weekend. It is difficult to clean your boat before polishing as I had no water supply and the power supply (a very worn electical cord) was locked up in the building all weekend. The yard is dirt, not gravel and so the dust is substantial. This is definitely not a green boatyard as debris is left everywhere and no doubt running back to the harbour. Price for haulout was the same as anywhere else, so I would suggest it is worth the trip elsewhere if you want in a clean boatyard with adequate supplies of power and water.

I damaged my prop heading over the Georgia Straight. I moored at the Marina near by. I came over to Ladysmith Marine Services and spoke to Doug about my problem. He was great to deal with and even leant me some tools to remove and replace my prop. He was able to get me one the same day at a very reasonable, honest price. If anything happens again around this area, he will be my first choice for sure!

After having some engine trouble in the harbour, Doug pulled up along side and was able to give us a tow over to the dock. He help was unexpected and extremely helpful.
