Ive been here for work done By Doctor Matthew and i loved his practice and all his Employee's. my wait time was not very long and they informed me when he was a little behind. The Front desk girls informed me on all insurance claims or steps it will take to get my work done and helped me find a day or time that would suit my agenda. i recommend Brentwood oral surgery to all of my friends and family.

Receptionists are great and very helpful. I had my tooth extracted and Dr. Mathew’s, was great and put me at ease. He explained the process as he went along, which I found helpful . Thanks again for the great experience .

I got all of my wisdom teeth removed last week and I can't thank Dr. Matthew and the staffs for taking such good care of me! Granted, I fell asleep during the surgery and only woke up afterwards - I couldn't remember anything except for the fact that I was already heading downstairs and on the way home .I'd like to mention that the surgery was painless for me. Furthermore, the recovery process was facilitated by the detailed instructions and medications I received. I'm still in that phase but everything is going just fine.Since I was fazed after my surgery, I couldn't thank the team in-person properly. So here's my final words: thank you to the team at Brentwood Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!

Dr. Matthew has always been kind and patient. He is the one dental practitioner who has constantly been “there for me” through several years of complicated treatment, and his advice has always proved correct. I like his honesty, his sometimes edgy sense of humour, but above all, I admire his genuine concern for the wellbeing of all his patients, and his willingness to explain clearly and succinctly the options available, and help me come to the best choice of treatment. Last of all, he is a gentle and caring oral surgeon, who has never caused any pain, and he makes even the most intrusive kind of procedures pass very quickly without discomfort. I want to add that the procedures I’ve experienced are bone grafts and multiple implants, not straightforward extractions. I usually think “It wasn’t so bad so far, but now it might get worse” and then “Dr. Matthew says “OK, so you need to come back next week for a follow up”. And to my happy surprise, it’s already all done! Dr. Matthew is a gem!

I had my wisdom tooth extracted by Dr Matthew. The office is clean and easy to find, although it does not follow a scent-free policy. Wait times were minimal on both days. The front desk staff are polite and helpful. The initial consultation have me a good idea of what to expect, and Dr Matthew addressed my concerns related to breastfeeding by suggesting a safe option, talking in detail about the medications used during the surgery, and confirming that an antibiotic that I was not comfortable with taking was not a requirement. The surgery itself went so quickly and smoothly that I actually missed the moment my teeth had made it out. Imagine my confusion as I was preparing for all the grinding and pulling when Dr Matthew and the assistant whose name I regrettably didn't catch suddenly seemed to lose interest in the contents of my mouth and began giving me post-op instructions. We had a good laugh about it with the assistant after. There was no bruising or swelling after the op, and while I had been advised to keep talking to a minimum I was able to participate in an online class just an hour after the extraction, and ended up needing no pain medication either. Both Dr Matthew and the lady who was assisting him were excellent. Dr Matthew is caring, approachable and warm. If you are lucky, he will impress you with his party trick of figuring out your profession based on some completely unrelated thing you say (he guessed two of my past jobs!). Unlike some of the other health professionals I've met here in Vancouver he is available after hours for emergency phone follow-ups. My only regret is that Dr Matthew doesn't have a doppelganger specializing in pediatric dentistry.

First interactions and impressions are the most important. Let me attach a recent conversation I had with a specific receptionist and allow you to judge her service on behalf of this office:“Myself: Would it be possible to forward the payment to my father? Her: No, you have to pay it right now.Myself: So there’s no way of forwarding it to my dad even after you obtained his insurance information? Her: No, you have to pay now. You can take that up with him. You have to pay the bill now.Myself: Okay, that’s fine. Her: Your insurance information is not going through. Are you sure this is the right information?Myself: You can try my other last name. Her: You have another last name? You should know your name, that’s important.Myself: Sorry, it was changed when I was a baby. It was out of my control. It is different on my medical compared to everyday identification. Her: Ugh, okay? So where do you want your prescriptions sent?Myself: Is there a place that is easiest for you? Her: *Looks at me as if I was stupid* Why do you think I’m asking you this question? Where do you want it sent?”— And the unpleasant conversation continued and nearly prevented the doctors here from securing a client. Out of respect for this receptionist I will leave her name anonymous. However that does not mean that she can disrespect my being with her hostile demeanour. That day I was left unsettled and caught off guard. In environments like these you do not expect to have to defend yourself from another’s unhappiness projected onto you.As soon as you pass the unsettling threshold you will meet the doctors. In my case, I dealt with Dr. Ian Matthews (who, unlike the women mentioned before) was very professional, polite, and experienced. Dr. Ian Matthews performed my wisdom teeth surgery. He was very fast and efficient, which is leading to a very painless and quick recovery. The other receptionists here have been checking up on my healing process and are very lovely to deal with. Sometimes they end the day thirty minutes early, so be sure to call that time limit in advance if needed. For medical emergencies they have the doctors numbers listed on their site. The office is a bit hard to locate. It is adjacent to Madison Centre building. It is hidden in a corner with a few elevators. The suite (303) is on the third floor, one of the few on this floor so it should be fairly easy to find. The Vancity bank is the simplest identifier. The office should be above this bank.I believe I had a very unfortunate beginning to a otherwise great surgery.

I will give a 2 star only because my son said that the doctor was pleasant. other than that, the staff that he employs are not knowledgeable and are extremely rude. Trying to get a straight answer about how they process insurance claims is like pulling teeth (pardon the pun) Heather in particular, I have spoken to her on a number of different occasions and she lacks any type of helpful input or knowledge to clients that call the office, she's the pass the buck kind of employee, she is more the employee that will ensure you will not have happy clients. Dr. Matthews needs to coach her or properly train her to deal with clients that are frustrated instead of arguing and pointing fingers and hanging up on people. For the better of your business, that is not who you want representing your front end.

I would highly recommend this practice to anyone requiring oral surgery. Dr. Matthew is thorough, kind and empathetic. He and his staff made a really not-fun situation (the removal of 4 impacted wisdom teeth) the absolute best it could have been. From my initial consult, to some follow up after some post surgical concerns, I really had the best experience I could have. I’m really glad I’ll never have to go through that again, but if I did, I would definitely go back to the same practice!
