Elisabeth’s Chalet Restaurant Ltd
Our craving for good, old-fashioned Germanic fare was amply satisfied by the Combination plate which features schnitzel, bratwurst, rouladen, spaetzle and red cabbage. The chalet's interior is well appointed with wood features which are reminiscent of earlier times and the servers were attentive and friendly.

Stopped in for lunch as I've always wanted to try this place after driving by it for many years. The manager/server was very nice. Only one other table of 2 ladies was there so 4 of us were there to eat all together. I was surprised there were no lunch specials at all. It seemed to be the full menu. Average price of $23 for a schnitzel meal. The schnitzel itself was dry and not very big. The sides of vegetables and pan fried potatoes were fresh and tasted great. The decor is definitely outdated but clean. Considering how slow the place was - only 4 people - you would think they would have a lunch special menu in place to attract customers. Not sure if I'd go back. Most likely not.

The schnitzel was good. The service was excellent.... Very attentive. The chicken pot pie was disappointing... We should have gotten the chicken strips for our son. He was excited to have the chicken pot pie though, but it was like a bowl of pie innards with a little rectangle of pie crust, almost like a bun sitting on the side. He tried it, but didn't eat it because he didn't like it at all. We brought it home in hopes that someone will eat it.I was disappointed because I called ahead saying that it was a special dinner.... One of our international students who was staying with us, from Germany, was leaving the following day. She chose this restaurant as her final meal. I told the gentleman I spoke with on the phone all of this, however it wasn't acknowledged in any way while we were there. Not even, hey

At first the staff was very friendly. The bus girl was very helpful, friendly...did her job very well. Cute too.Bridgette was friendly too. But when we wanted to pay it took 20 minutes with the credit card clearly visible on our table.The food was meh. As an actual German, not like everyone else saying they are, the food was mediocre. Had the schnitzel madascor. My father had the hunter schnitzel.If one wants a good German restaurant I highly recommend Jägerhof in North Vancouver.Washrooms need an overhaul. You know... they say if the washroom isn't good then....

This place has a very nice interior. Out of all the places in the Vancouver area this felt the most like home (Germany).The service is friendly and fast.The starters were a bit small for the price but tasted good. Only the bread of the smoked salmon was very hard.The mains are great. Good quality ingredients well prepared. Only a bit of salt was missing across everything we had, bit that seems to be a common theme in most german restaurants in the area.Beer selection on tap is limited to the usual two suspects in the Krombacher lineup. It's decent beer, though, so all good there.Overall, we will be back, but next time no more starters. The main dishes are so big you won't need starters anyway.

We didn't even get to eat in due to current conditions, but we had a fantastic dinner take out for my wife's birthday.I had the bratwurst and she had cordon bleu and we were very satisfied. The portions were so big, we have potatoes and slaw for leftovers!The quality of the food was delicious and very filling.Can't wait to go back and eat inside, as the interior looks very well maintained and has great character.

We stopped by this restaurant by “accident”. We had absolutely no idea what to expect. We walked in and it became quite clear. A classic Bavarian style restaurant. The service was quite good, the food was tasty, and overall we had a great experience. This is the type of place that has stayed consistently traditional for decades. If you want a nostalgic experience and a blast from the past, this is a great place to experience what dining in the mid-eighties at a Bavarian restaurant would have been like. Try them out.

This is what a martini with olives looks like. Not delivered in a shaker with ice, poured into a margarita glass, and not with a second request to “please have olives” only to receive one small soggy cocktail olive on the end of a toothpick. I’m not sure if the restaurant was having an off night but $500 for 6 people to dine should come with some elements of excellence. When drinks were ordered, after 15 minutes of sitting with our menus, they arrived 10 minutes later. The rum and coke no ice tall glass, came in a short glass, no coke. The rye and 7 came with just rye. The red wine came with no glass to pour it in. And the martinis you’ve already heard about. We sat and not one of us could cheers! It was almost comical. Mom and dad ordered escargot. Moms was cold, no garlic. Dad’s was full of garlic, hot and scrumptious. The Caesar was a tiny portion and the yellowing heart only, not one green leaf. The food elements were Cisco, not even an in-house crouton. The potatoes were luke warm as though scooped from the top of the large pan that sat under heat. We had to ask for everything twice, or to be fixed, or warmed. My nephew loved his Cordon Bleu, and the redemption was the Black Forrest Cake, absolutely perfect. Which had my mother declare “that was wonderful” as we walked to the car… thank goodness. And so, two stars.
