Blaylock Mansion
Really lucked out and had the whole mansion to ourselves. What a beautiful location and amazing architecture. Our hosts Sherry and Ryan were outstanding. Made us feel at home. The breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious. The history surrounding this mansion is extremely interesting. Would recommend this location to all, but if I do, we will never have the opportunity to stay there again because it will always be booked.

We recently had our wedding hosted at Blaylock Mansion and we were blown away with the venue, staff, food, and help we received. Our guests, and our selves, loved the rooms. Everything was clean and felt so on theme with the 1930's mansion. The food every morning was delicious, and the staff treated us all so well. In total I was there for 5 nights and the owners and staff were amazing each day with helping find items, cleaning, answering questions, and being lovely in general. A huge thank you to the owners and their staff, the Mansion was an absolute dream wedding venue! We can't wait to come back to enjoy the grounds and accommodations again in the future.

My husband and I recently visited Blaylock Mansion and enjoyed 4 days in the Nelson area. The mansion and grounds are absolutely gorgeous. We were fortunate enough to stay in the Presidential suite and enjoyed exploring the grounds and spent time reading by the pool. The only recommendations I might make in terms of this property are related to water quality and plumbing. The water has a yellow/brown tinge which I assume is from high iron content. In terms of plumbing, the sink, shower and tub were very slow to drain. I removed the metal stopper in the bathroom sink and discovered it was completely wrapped in hair. Not mine. At any rate, just a few recommendations. We enjoyed our stay and loved the Nelson area.

Recently I was a guest at the beautiful Blaylock Mansion and would love to encourage not just visitors from out of town but also locals to book a room at this stunning , historical gem!Growing up in Nelson, the Mansion has always been a grand estate that I would drive by and wonder about.  The incredble home with gorgeous property was a passing glance as I drove past.  Mysterious seemingly even as a lifetime local! When my daughter and her fiance booked Blaylock as their wedding venue I was quite excited to finally get an in person glimpse of this beautiful mystery!Let me tell you, it was a phenomenal experience!!We stayed at the Mansion for the entire weekend and I still feel like it was too short! The house is a beautiful museum filled with historic antiques, photos, newspaper clippings and even Mr.Blaylock's will!  (It was an interesting document to read!)The grounds of the estate are immaculate and the pool was a wonderful spot for guests to enjoy, either lounging or swimming. The breakfasts were delicious, and the coffee/tea was continually restocked for our large group each morning. The owners, Brett and Jenn were incredibly welcoming, kind, helpful and respectful of our family gathering.  They both were so accommodating with questions, requests and pitched in to help when they could. The staff were all friendly and helpful at every turn throughout the weekend.  Each interaction was lovely. After 48 years I finally had the opportunity to visit the Blaylock Mansion and I know it won't be the last time I am a guest at this unique and beautiful lake front Bed and Breakfast!I would absolutely recommend Blaylock Mansion over a typical hotel to anyone visiting the Nelson area!

What a special and lovely place to stay. Blaylock’s Mansion is worth experiencing. The architecture is still amazing after many decades. The house is large but the scale of the rooms is intimate and comfortable. The gardens are very beautiful and we were there before much was blooming. You can see the great care “Blay” took in his landscape design. Loved our stay there!

The Blaylock Mansion is a truly magical place, and the owners and hosts are wonderful people. We felt very welcome and at home during our stay and appreciated how understanding they were as we navigated challenges with our wedding planning. We would recommend this place for anyone looking for a special stay or special event in Nelson!

What a great experience, a chance to stay in one of Canada's great old mansions. reminiscent of the Banff Springs hotel in Alberta. The stay features access to most of the mansion and the 13 acre well groomed grounds with spectacular views of the Kootenai lake. Just minutes from Nelson you wont be disappointed. The caretakers are wonderful people ready to answer any of your questions and welcome you. We spent two nights and took the opportunity to lounge in the various rooms our favorite being the arboretum. The rooms are nice and comfortable unfortunately being an historical mansion built in the early 1900 it doesn't have air conditioning. That aside you have large windows for ventilation. My wife did run out of water when taking her morning shower, not sure why but it just stopped there doesn't appear to be any issues regarding the source of water as there is plenty of spring fed water around. I suggest if its busy take your shower before you go to bed. The drinking water out of the tap is one of the best I have ever had. If your looking for an experience and enjoy what BC has to offer this is your place, touring the grounds alone is worth the experience.

My wife and I stayed in the presidential suite for Canada Day long weekend. The building and the grounds were beautiful and we had a fantastic time. We also really enjoyed meeting and talking with the owners. We're hoping to make our stay at Blaylock's a tradition.

Stayed here for one overnight on our trip around the Kootenays this summer. What a beautiful old mansion. Built between 1935-37 by the local Cominco boss it’s got so much charm and special places to sit with quietly or with your spouse with a glass of wine.Wonderful hosts who can give you a tour and provide some history.I recommend staying here for a break from corporate run hotel chains.

Here's a pro tip for the locals: you can drive up and around the back of Blaylock and sometimes you can see turkeys walking around
