Great Escape Outfitters on Richmond Road in Westboro is a well stocked retailer which provides a broad range of outdoor clothing, boots, backpacks, and accessories like gloves, hats, and equipment. Knowledgeable staff and friend service add to a great experience.

We went yesterday to partake in their moving sale. Every employee was helpful and the one that helped my friend Dave buy his boots went above and beyond to make sure he was getting the best deal available. I wish we knew her name!

While planning a trip to Alberta in October I knew that I needed a « versatile » coat. One that wasn’t too heavy and bulky and either too hot or not warm enough. I already have a Pagar but it’s bulky and unless it was going to be well below zero for the majority of the trip I knew it would be too heavy and way too much coat for this time of year. Well say no more. I popped in to GEO one day before my Chiro appointment next door and saw enough selection to know that I was going back once my appointment was done. Best decision I ever made.Once I explained what I was looking for the store owner brought me three coats to try on and the one that I purchased was absolutely perfect and checked all the boxes! I couldn’t be more pleased. I chose a short Patagonia style with the hood and not only was it warm enough it folded down into its inner pocket so small that I simply tossed it into my carry on bag for the flight and didn’t have to worry about it until I needed it. The coat is rated to about -10 but was so light weight I could wear it up to 5 degrees and it never made me sweat. Turns out that whether I was sightseeing, hiking or going out for dinner it was exactly what I needed.I want to thank the store owner for listening to what I needed and presenting me with the best products. It was a pleasant shopping experience and I will definitely be recommend this shop for anyone needing outdoor gear. Customer care is outstanding!

Small shop but all dedicated to outdoor wear from jackets to bags to shoes. You can find popular brands like Patagonia, North Face, and Columbia, etc. There are sales items outside and in the middle of the store worth checking out. Store itself is not very big but it has a website where you can also find products before venturing to the physical store.

Found this gem when searching for some travel gear. I have placed 4 orders since last year and found some amazing deals on various items such as Therm-a-Rest, Eagle Creek and Royal Robbins. Shipping to the US has been reasonable, or even free when the order is over a certain amount. The customer service has also been great as they reached out about an unexpected delay on one of the orders.

What an extremely customer friendly store! They were the only website that had the item I wanted still in store. I'd been searching for this item for about a year.However, living in Europe, I wanted to know more about shipping costs first. I wrote to customer service and received a very helpful reply from Amy, GEO manager. It turned out that international express shipping (the only option for international shipping) was as expensive as the item was.Sadly, it made the entire purchase too expensive for me.This is what I replied to Amy. She then proceeded to find 2 options of less expensive international shipping.This extremely helpfull service made my purchase possible and I'm looking forward to receiving my package.I totally recommend buying with Great Escape Outfitters. Their customer service is one of the best in the world!

New to Ottawa, and was really happy to discover Great Escape. I was on a quest for a winter parka, and after being disappointed by the big store across the street I thought I would have a look here. They had a great selection of product, more colors than the competition, and at a better price (similar to if not better than on-line). The staff offered honest advice, and I was pleased to leave with a product that would meet my needs. Just wish they were closer to home, but it was well worth the trip.

I went to the store today to buy a pair of hiking shoes. I entered and there were two employees who didn't even greet me. I asked for a specific pair of shoes that was on sale, and all the answers that I got were negative, like we probably will not have your size" (before even knowing which size I wear) and "I think it will not fit you well" (?!). I bought the shoes in the end because I know the brand is good and the price was great (they actually had my size) but I will never bring my business to this store again. I run

Excellent store to purchase outdoor gear at a very reasonable price! One of their promotions just ended as I was about to make a purchase. I was able to call in and they were able to reapply the promotion as I had just missed it by a few hours! Super friendly and helpful, will definitely be shopping here more in the future.
