YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce, Health, Fitness & Aquatics

Great pool and gym but I found the desk staff were disrespectful. We have a family YMCA membership. We came to town for a hockey tournament and were unfamiliar with the facility. When my 16 year old son asked how to get up to the weight room the front-staff member told him, in a somewhat belittling and unhelpfully manner, You use the stairs".Two days later my son forgot his card in the car. We were watching a hockey game and he went to check if my spouse and other son were coming out of the pool area. He confirmed he was a member but didn't want to sign in because he wasn't going to use the facility. Young people checking on their parents without first signing in is not unheard of at our local Y.The same staff member and another spoke amongst themselves suggesting he was actually lying about being a member; "He's not a member". When I went to call them out out on this one of them immediately stood up with arms crossed - signalling oppositional defiance. I did not raise my voice nor was I rude. I acknowledged that they needed to control ingress but that they had been disrespectful to my son. They would take no ownership of their behaviour."

Just began a membership here this past week. Staff are extremely kind and helpful. And I highly appreciate the Covid protocols and cleanliness. Looking forward to my visits.

Lost alot of weight and kids all love it

Hours are bad, city spent millions of dollars on the building just to have the Y closed at 2 on weekends. Gym is okay when it’s open

Pretty swaggy if you ask me. Kinda mad the hours have shrunk tho, used to be able to stay till 12 but now it closes at 8 best :/

It is a great place. They offer so much. But for someone who doesn't live in the area it us crazy expensive for a day pass...

I recently had a tour and joined the Y. Caroline who did my tour and sign up was so kind and welcoming. Definitely made me feel welcome and comfortable.Thank you.

My favorite YMCA outside of my home YMCA!

My spouse and I take classes four days a week + we the staff makes feel safe with their hard work. I have started using the change rooms over the past two weeks but on odd times I have found that the men in the change room want to be close to way out that means they are in close quarters and you cannot leave or enter without touching. There is always room for improvement. Way to go staff you keep us safe.
