I have never felt less like a human being than I did throughout my appointment. They did not listen to me, they did not review any of the paperwork they had me fill out prior (a person can tell by the questions the get). I was in for back pain and they repeatedly wanted to address my leg pain. My leg is weak not painful. Weak because my vertebrae are rubbing the nerves to it. I had so much hope that I would find help here and now I’m deflated.

My husband Allan was referred to the Shield Clinic for pain management of a tailbone injury.We’re totally impressed by how friendly, professional and thoroughDr Vicaruddin , Dr El-Maadawy and assistant Nidhi were. They took the time to explain “everything” step by step and made you feel that you were being taken care of .Thank you to all three for making this appointment a positive experience.

The ladies are amazing at the front desk always smiling and have a lot of patience. Such a good atmosphere. Dr V is such a nice man and always helps me feel better, such good bedside manners.

Please don’t waste your time with Dr.Bobart. I wish I read reviews prior to seeing her. I waited months for this appointment due to being in pain and during the first 5 minutes of meeting her, she was on her phone texting, apologized and continued texting while I sat there in my own important appointment. She then proceeds to rush through questions and then suddenly tells me, “sorry we have almost run out of time for this appointment so you will have to come back”.

Dr. Bobart is a wonderful doctor. I was in a lot of pain with sciatica and was going for regular injections. She suggested changing up my diet to get rid of processed foods and get more vitamins. She also convinced me to quit smoking. I am doing so much better now and have stopped injections and pain killers. I went from barely being able to stand or walk to getting around much better. She calls me regularly to check in and genuinely cares. I would recommend her to anyone in chronic pain.

My appointment was scheduled for 8:30 with Dr. Vicaruddin. I arrived 30 mins early to complete some very comprehensive medical questionnaires relating to the reason I was there. The doctor saw me at 8:40 (probably took him 10 mins to review my responses. Yes, it really did take me 30 mins to fill the forms). When asking me to describe my concerns, he would raise questions that I felt contributed to what the next steps should be toward a resolution. I did find it ironic that the one thing that I had been asking my GP for is a referral to a specialist, instead, I had been sent to the pain clinic only to have Dr. Vicaruddin recommend I see a specialist. Please don't take that as a negative toward my GP but more towards doctors that are not completing patient information on Netcare. Dr. Vicaruddin nor my GP could find any info on me from the prior specialist who was no longer practicing for health reasons. The front desk staff were pleasant and the facility clean. They do have a policy of charging for missed appointments, so I recommend you don't miss one. Frankly though, given the needs of the people and the number of doctors available, don't miss an appointment and don't be late as this impacts every other patient following you.

I should have read the reviews before accepting a referral to this clinic. Unfortunately I did not. On the day of my appointment, three months after the referral, I took the afternoon off work to attend the appointment at this clinic. The woman at the front said I had phoned one day earlier to cancel my appointment because I was going to take my child to hospital. I asked: did you verify who you were talking to over the phone because I don't have a sick child? She became defensive, rude, condescending, and she kept telling me over and over again that unfortunately the appointment has been cancelled and there is not anything she could do. They make such a professional mistake and they make me feel I have no right to complain about it. Furthermore, they make me feel guilty, and put me in a situation that I had to prove that I did not call to cancel my appointment. Another woman joined the lady at the front and showed no remorse about their action. They did not care about me taking the afternoon off. I explained I was not going to leave because I wanted to see the doctor as anticipated three months ago. I had phoned to confirm my appointment the day before and I sat down. I spare you the details of our conversation. They hurt my feelings to the point that I stood up, and I said I was done with the clinic, they would never see me again, and I left. No human being should be treated like that. The poorest customer service ever. I just read the bad reviews of this place. Do not waste your time. Go to a different clinic where you are going to be treated as a human being.

A big 5 stars for this clinic. I’ve been going for several years for cortisone injections in my back. Dr. El-Maadawy is an amazing doctor. He’s great at what he does medically and has a wonderful bedside manner. Everyone on staff have been very pleasant and professional to me.

I have been seeing Dr El Goughary for years and she has always addressed my concerns and not made me feel rushed.The staff is always kind and helpful in making appointments and taking my BP, weight, height.

Dr. El - Gouhary is an excellent doctor. She listens and always finds answers to my question I can’t say enough about the excellent service i have received in her care. The staff at the desk are very polite and courteous,. Their is a very kind group of people working at the clinic. Thank you for your care and service
