Wessex Inn Motel
This was a fantastic little spot for a quick mountain bike trip. The hotel staff were very pleasant and super accommodating. The kitchen was a little bit under stocked, weirdly didn’t have bowls but had enough to get it done. The beds were super comfortable with nice sheets. The towels were also fantastic, better than most four star accommodations. The location was also fantastic with how close it is to the ocean.

As others have said, older motel but clean and very pleasant staff, especially the fellow (sorry, didn't get your name!) who checked us in.We had a second floor room that looked out directly over the park with decent enough kitchen facilities; however, we didn't use it because the eating out options were great.It was a perfect 5-10 min walk from Wessex to the eateries and shops. We recommend all the places we enjoyed: Breakfast at Leeward Cafe, one fine dinner at Masthead, and a noisy, casual pub meal at the Cowichan Bay Pub.

Great little motel in Cowichan Bay.Friendly and helpfull service from the check-in staff. The rooms is spacious with a small kitchenette.Small balcony with a Seaview was a bonus.Ample parking and laundry available.Yes, it's a bit old, but it was neat and clean and very affordable!There's plenty restaurants and a small supermarket within walking distance.

Not by the Sea. Across the Coastal Hwy from. No pets? Pets everywhere I looked. This made me laugh. No smoking? Everybody smoking in the parking lot. Hilarious. Overpriced dump. Weekday Manager is barely able to backpedal on his own deception. Weekend manager should be in charge. Charging 150/night when it's barely worth 80$ a night. Carpets are simply gross. Hot water for first part of trip. Then none. Another Customer complained she had no heat for past 3 days. Weekday guy tried to upsell not upgrade. Condescending yet immensely incompetent Weekday Guy. Laughed at me when I said no cooking?" We have to eat." I walk past room after room cooking. Just nuts. I'm too tired to rebook or rearrange. They know it. This place is best for the mostly workers sponsored by a corporation. I wouldn't let my workers be insulted staying here. It's not really for a vacation. Believe the reviews. I'm not fussy. I'm tolerant. But never booking again at this location. Sad."

Chose at last minute. Decent enough. Rooms are dated and had a strange smell...but bed was comfortable.Great location to shops and restaurants.Concern: Sahill...the clerk at front desk...asked for my driver's license. Went behind the office wall.. kept it a long time. And copied it, stapled to his copy of my bill. I had to ask for it back. Not good !!!Other hotels just look at it. So major concern of identity theft.

Stayed for 2 nights overlooking Cowichan Bay. Had a room on 2nd floor, which was clean yet dated. I found the bed comfortable and the staff very attentive to please. Nice hot water in kitchenette and bathroom and a shower with good pressure. We didn’t cook, but appreciated having the fridge. They dont appear to put up with any trouble or riff raff, so its relatively quiet too. We'd stay again for sure if in the area.

No housekeeping. Stayed for four days. After the first night they replaced one towel. Never made the bed or replaced any other sundry item or linen. This is an old motel which has been minimally maintained. It’s clean, but very…modestly appointed. We stayed here because we were visiting people nearby, but we could easily have stayed 10 minutes farther away in Duncan for same price, much better hotel with full housekeeping and better parking.

The location is good - right on the water front. A very short but pleasant walk takes you to the 'centre' of the area where you would find a number of shops, restaurants and a small maritime museum. There building is old but clean. We traveled with friends and had adjoining rooms with a door in between. With the door open, the kids essentially had a sleepover. We enjoyed great stroll along the water front in the morning and the evening. The service was fast and friendly but the office hours are limited - a sign of the post-CoViD times. Parking was somewhat limited. The lot was very full when we were there.

Very comfortable room with a great view (our room faced the water). Not necessarily luxury, but great value for what you get. The person who checked us in was very friendly and accommodating. He helped to make sure we had a spot to charge our EV. The room had all that we needed for a short stay (dishes, coffee). Good location. Just a short walk from the main Cowichan Bay strip. Definitely would recommend and stay there again.
