the legal assistant needs to learn some customer service. When we asked questions, she was kind of annoyed by the questions. looks like she didnt care about us. We hired them to give us legal advice and answer concerns and questions.

My Common Law and I obtained services through Legal Aid and for almost 9 months, nothing positive happened for our legal problems. Bail Hearings were improperly booked as Detention Review Hearings (immigration issue, my CIL is first nation). Paperwork was never submitted to the judge ie. support letters, job confirmation letters, medical letters. I had to make sure we had everything prepared including addressing the judge because the lawyer was not bringing up the proper points and information. Speaking with the lawyer one on one was a fiasco, never being able to get a word in edgewise, and never listening to anything we had to say. We never received disclosure, nor in the 9 months was a plea given. I am happy they quit, just angry at the lack of professionalism and tact they use and the waste of 9 months trusting and believing in their ability to defend my CIL to the best of their ability. Our lives were in their hands, and they treated us really ugly and in all honesty like we didnt matter, perhaps its because we were legal aid and they arent paid well. Bad experience overall.

I must say that they did a 1 hour consultation with me at no charge. But The lawyer I talked to came across as if I was bothering him, he basically could have been a teacher and just read me the law from a book, emotionless, and sent me on my way. I left feeling like I was not nor was I going to be a valued client. I will not go back here.

I called in the morning and was able to get an appointment the same day (shortly after Christmas) to get some documents certified. They were polite and the rates they charged were the cheapest I was able to find in town. I was in and out very fast and am very pleased.

This firm claims to be an authorized Escrow Trustee. I sent them US dollars to hold and protect and when the deal fell through they refunded me in Canadian dollars at a loss of over 5,000 USD. They felt zero obligation to make this right. Basically, their attitude is too bad and sorry you used our firm why we were understaffed and going through a learning curve. This is one sorry excuse for a law firm.
