We settled in Vancouver last year, and since our child has experienced in China for 6 years, we hope to continue his interest in Vancouver. We are grateful to VCS for their weekly chess classes and frequent online or offline matches, which have greatly benefited for our child. If your child happens to have an interest in chess in Vancouver, especially live in West , try VCS. Teachers there are so professional and the diversity of the competition will make you feel value for money.

Our children began learning at Vancouver Chess School around six months ago. Their remarkable progress in chess is all thanks to the outstanding coaching and education provided by the school. Recently, they competed in the 2023 BC Provincial Chess Challenge and impressed us with their skill and confidence on the board. We could not be prouder of them, and it is entirely attributable to the school's dedication to excellence in chess education. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Vancouver Chess School for inspiring and supporting our kid's love for chess. Being a part of such an amazing community of chess enthusiasts is a privilege, and we are grateful for the opportunity. Once again, thank you for the excellent work that you do.

Our son has spent his last two years in VCS. It is first time we’ve seen our son become so dedicated and passionate about something. We can tell he loves chess and he is improving himself on all aspects throughout this journey. He’s transitioning into a more confident, diligent and energetic version of himself! This is all thanks to the chess curriculum and the wonderful coaches. If you have children who are currently expressing an interest in chess and just coincidentally lives in Vancouver, I believe VCS the best choice!

As a volunteer assistant coach of the chess camps, I felt the genuine trust and support from the teachers! The instructors gave every assistant coach some time every camp to teach the class some concepts, theories or tactics about chess. I can also tell that each student was encouraged to reach their full potential and play with confidence and resilience :)

Chess classes and tournaments at Vancouver Chess School has significantly transformed our kid's chess study journey. He started barely understanding anything about 6 months ago, and is now able to complete meaningfully in provincial challenges. Teachers are very supportive, Chess Heroes back-end platform is clever and conducive to trigger kids' curiosity and long-term learning aspiration. The design of tournaments also encourage our kids greatly to try harder everytime to excel at what the game. Overall, we are very pleased with the progresses our kid made, and thankful for the wonderful education provided by VCS!

This is a fun place to start learning chess. The teacher is patient and experienced. Group classes gather same level players together and are interactive and engaging. There are regular tournaments that give players more chances to practice and progress. My son loves this chess school and I'm happy I have made a right choice for him.

The school teaches professional chess technique and encourages sportsmanship. It meets where your child's level is whether it is beginner or advanced. It is an exciting journey for a child to keep improving and know that the coaches are always there to support their growth. The school hosts many CMA rated chess tournaments and organizes special functions to promote chess in the community. All events are super popular and always bring a good number of students and their families to join. It surely created lots of fond memories for us. We are happy that we have a world class chess school in Vancouver.
