Mark Preece Family House

Wonderful and affordable place to stay when dealing with the stress of a loved one in the hospital. The staff are friendly and compassionate. The rooms are VERY clean and modern. Large and fully appointed kitchen and lounge areas. The nightly rate also includes parking for one car in a well lit lot.

This place truly does provide a calm in the storm. Being from out of town, this has provided me with a place to be near the hospital to be close by. The house is stunning, relaxing and they have thought of every little detail to make your stay comfortable and as pleasant as possible during a stressful time. The evening meals that are donated have been excellent and are home cooked. So thankful that this place exists! Don't know what I would have done without it.

Stayed while my husband was in Hamilton Hospital after being air lifted there. I highly recommend this place to stay. They're there for families stay to help lived ones get better.

So thankful that this amazing place exists. Was able to get a room for my mom, while our family member was admitted to cardiac care. Beautiful room and facilities. Very affordable as donations make up much if the cost. Please note the request much initially come through the hospital where your family member is admitted or you need daily access as a patient. So thankful the CCU nurse mentioned it. Saved us hundreds of dollars and is in very close proximity to the hospital.

What a relaxing place during a hectic time in our life. Thank you all for making our visit as best as could be. With covid restrictions it was nice to be in the comfort of Mark Preece house as I could not stay at hospital during my husbands surgery. Everyone was very kind, polite and respectful.

3days to go, here 4 /5nights, great staff and very friendly also very helpful. Feels like home and so private,guiet, and has such added history and charm. Very attractive building, spacious, so clean, what mindfulness you have to reflect on taking good care of yourself and just breathe.....xoxo...thankyou to all staff... Jane

This by referral only place is a true haven at a time of your worse nightmare. Talk to your health care provider for a referral. The place is beautiful, terrific price, great kitchen that's always open. Just a hint, if you're want your linen changed, be prepared to do it yourself. For the price who cares. But when you come back from an 16 hour day at the hospital to find fresh linen neat on a chair waiting to be replaced on the intended bed, that's tough. While very well appointed, beautifully furnished, cleanliness is not a strong priority. So just don't take your shoes off in the main hall. The staff are great and very caring. They seem to genuinely about you and the like ve done you attend to daily. While not as clean as a hotel, it is a better choice in time of stress. I would stay here again if needed.

Created in remembrance of Dr. Mark Preece, in appreciation for similar places that supported his family when needed, this is similar to Ronald McDonald houses, only for adult patients and those who may be a short term admission, such as for surgery. Run by fundraising, volunteers and a token payment of $50/night, the Mark Preece Family House is a God-send for out-of-town patients needing to report for surgery at 6AM to a local hospital. It also provides a place for family members to remain during admission. I know many of those working here as well as having referred many patients for accommodation (one must be referred by the physician's office). Everyone goes above and beyond to support and soothe those staying during a time of undoubted stress. An essential service for many and delivered in a warm, calm and lovely manner and environment.
