Bamboo Kitchen and Bar

I love sushi and I really used to enjoy this place. I live and work on town and would order from here at LEAST 2-3x a week. Usually 1-3 orders of spicy crab meat rolls, sometimes would also order edamame but mostly just the crab rolls. I left the country for a few months and when I returned and went to pick up ONE order of my spicy crab meat rolls and it came to $10.10 I was mortified! There is absolutely NO justification for the price. I finished my order in 10 seconds and obviously 1 order will not satisfy any sort of hunger. I will be dining elsewhere from now on. Unfortunately, lost a very loyal customer. Good sushi, yes but absolutely not worth the $.

Stopped in for lunch…place was busy! Incredible menu with tons of options. Chines, Japanese and Thai cuisines. Great for vegetarians/gluten free. My friend and I had the special which includes soup, spring roll, rice and main. I had General Tao chicken and it was delicious! Good service.

First and foremost, this incident occurred 2 days ago and only now I’m posting a review after speaking with the manager (Allen) and the owner (?). This is not an anonymous review, they have my name, email address and phone number and were informed I would post a review of the incident.Over the past several years we have dined in and take out on multiple occasions, the food was always good and well priced. However, this past Sunday our experience was very different and disturbing. It was later in the evening; we were the only dine-in customers, but several take out orders were picked up during our stay. We only saw 3 female waitresses and 1 sushi chef in the restaurant. We placed our order with waitress # 1. The various dishes ordered were delivered to our table over the course of our meal; when the last item arrived (delivered by waitress # 2) it was not the “Sashimi Deluxe” platter we had ordered but instead it was the “Sushi Delight”, we informed her immediately and she returned it back to the sushi chef. Immediately he started yelling at the waitresses in his native language, but clearly and in English said the name of the platter and dropped a loud “F” word. We then saw him throw a piece of fish on the counter in a fit of anger. We immediately called the waitress and told to cancel the platter order and to bring the bill as we were done with our dinner. When she brought the bill I asked for the chef’s name, she nervously looked back into the direction of the sushi bar and shook her head indicating she could not give his name. On my way out I approached the chef and told him he should not address the female waitresses as he did, especially when there are customers present, he proceeded to saying that it was because she made a mistake.The following day I contacted the restaurant to speak to a manager and/or owner, Allen the manager called me, I asked him if he was aware of an incident that occurred the night before. He said that he was not aware of anything that he was in the back kitchen that evening and was very tired that day and did not hear anything (which is impossible as the chef was extremely loud). Upon relating the events of the previous night to Allen, he proceeded to defend the chef and blaming the waitress because of the order mistake, the conversation with the owner was very similar. Both apologized but always coming back to the fact the chef was upset because of the mistake made by the waitress, but not acknowledging the actual problem is the chef who yelled, disrespected, and harassed the waitresses in the presence of customers.We will not be returning to Bamboo Kitchen and Bar and hope management and ownership educate their chef to be respectful of staff and customers. Mistakes do happen, it is not an excuse for this inappropriate behavior.

Great place for a mix of Asian cuisine. Vibrant presentation of food, friendly staff. The flavour profile I can say is as authentic as it gets. The owner, Jimmy, knows his sushi and the quality of fish is always high. Highly recommended.

Quite expensive but yummy food. Their poke bowls are delicious and they make some great fried rice. Their sushi tastes fresh and they have really nice staff working the front. They also have a great selection of bubble tea and do not cheap out on how much boba they give you! I love coming here because I know all the food is prepared fresh and is made once ordered. One of Port Perry’s better restaurants for sure!

Came here on the Victoria Day Monday. There was a little bit of a wait since there weren't a whole lot of restaurants open that day in Port Perry. Our server was friendly. We got a wonton soup and the Bamboo Maki set, which included volcano roll, spicy salmon roll and California roll. They were all delicious but the volcano roll was amazing. The seared tuna on top was so tasty. The Maki set also comes with a salad and miso soup. My husband got a strawberry banana bubble tea which he liked as well. We will most likely come back here when we're in Port Perry again!

I really wanted to like the food at Bamboo, was very excited to try this place. But in the end the food was average at best, and the portions were too small.We tried the Pad See Ew, Crispy Beef, Fried Rice, Basil Chicken, Tuna Poke Bowl and Beef Short Ribs.The Tuna Poke Bowl was excellent, short ribs were also very good. Everything else… meh. If the portions were better, I probably would had given them a 4-star review.

We always enjoy our meals here. Both sushi and Thai meals. Decor is basic but clean.If you need wheelchair accessible enter thru back door

We popped in for some finger food to snack on while driving back to the city. The vegetable spring rolls had a thin crispy pastry and filled with tasty vegetables. They gave us freshly made sweet and sour sauce to go with it. The crab Rangoon was perfect...hot and crunchy. The cold drinks were made to perfection. I had the snow mango and it was heavenly. The staff were polite and prompt. Would love to visit them for a full meal someday.

Bubble tea is below average, very little bobba. Not worth the price.Went for lunch on the weekend. We tried their japonese food which was fresh but more expensive than other restaurants in town. The female server had difficulty understanding our menu questions and communicating. Male server was friendly. Do not recommend.
