A cute small fried chicken joint nestled next door to the Highwayman and across the street from Stillwells. Really reasonably-priced and extremely tasty fried chicken. A whole host of interesting seasoning choices for the chicken (including a Sichuan peppercorn-laced spicy flavour and a really awesome cumin-infused flavour. The pricing structure of their chicken meals is a little confusing (a large combo containing a double portion of a combo meal is priced at over twice the price of the original single combo. When we pointed this out to the wait staff she also seemed really confused by it. Hopefully this will get fixed in the next menu iteration).However, ignoring that odd menu quirk the meals are tasty and reasonably-priced (we bought a whole bunch of fried chicken with multiple seasonings along with sides and drinks and it came to about $18pp tax and tip included). There is a wall mural that features a large mug of beer hanging out with a chicken but the restaurant doesn't currently sell alcoholic beverages. They should probably start doing this immediately, as the fried chicken here would go so well with beer it ain't even funny.As previous reviews have indicated, this isn't a fancy restaurant by any means. However, it is a good place for a reasonably-priced meal of fried chicken with unique seasoning options, that will hopefully soon start selling beer.

We used to order from here and the spicy chicken was so good but it's absolutely terrible now. The last time we ordered we got half the fries they used to give and the chicken tasted rubbery. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered today and it was garbage. We asked for it extra spicy and there was very little seasoning on it. They used to give a small container with extra spice in it but they didn't. Tasted like the oil was old and all we could taste was flour when we ate it. Tried to get a refund for at least part of it and they wouldn't give any form of refund. For the price of the meal and the way the complaint was dealt with we are very disappointed and will have to give up on iron rooster.

Came for a bacon chicken burger. Any topping I put on the bbq dry spiced burger I would have had to pay for I guess.The waitress/ cook plopped everyone’s burgers on the table, walked off for 5 minutes, leaving our table confused after all asking about our fries. I had to ask if we were getting fries and even ketchup with no cutlery or waters at the table.When we finally all had our orders I was upset to find I received a couple of low quality chicken fingers on a burger bun which dwarfed them and no bacon. The meat was dark meat, (poor quality) and scarce complete with gristle. The batter tasted ok that didn’t make up for the high price point of 15$. The BBQ spice tasted more like curry . We had to chase the waitress down to pay our bill.

Its ok, from outside it would seem that the inside is big. They have all these cute pictures inside, but the place os small, not much variety too. They don't even serve dips with wings . Just good for one time visit.

A restaurant where you can get good popcorn chicken and other fried chicken varieties in Halifax. You can choose from a variety of toppings for each selection of food choices you make (pepper, spicy, bbq, cumin, salt and pepper, etc). Portions are generous for fries and there are also combo options available including half and full chicken sizes. Not the most appealing storefront, but there are around 5 tables of seating once you’re inside. There were at least two delivery drivers who picked up orders while we were there, so delivery and take out are also good options on a nice day to eat outside (the popcorn chicken, fried chicken, chicken burger, chicken bowl, or fries options). You can also ask for a cute takeout bag for your orders or leftovers.

Ordered a peppercorn poutine, me and my Quebecer friend both agree that it's good, but there is a severe lack of cheese curds. I wanted poutine, not fries and gravy

The chicken burger I got was delicious, mouth watering and moist! I got the fries with spicy seasoning and they were honestly some of the best fries ive ever had! Would definitely recommend! The prices are also reasonable!

I was excited to try the place because the store front looked interesting. When we first went in there was a family already seated and had ordered. There was only one person to take orders, run the cash, cook the food and bus tables, so service was a slow process. When we finally got to order they where out of bacon and mushrooms, and later found out the were out of the sauce I ordered for my wings. My girlfriend's poutine was mediocre(too much gravy to fries made the fries mushy very fast) and also we found out we couldn't get popcorn chicken mixed in like one of the pictures on Google maps showed. The chicken was ok, but very bland even with the garlic seasoning, which did not cover the chicken evenly. What we hoped would be a nice hole in the wall restaurant turned out to be a waste of money.

Ordered whole fried chicken from UBEREATS and found that it is a bit small size. However the taste was good. Crispy batter and chicken still hot and fresh.

Have been here a few times and the food is great! The popcorn chicken is really tasty and the wings are piping hot. The chicken burger is average but complements the spicy popcorn chicken well. Good with friends
