Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence

My father-in-law moved in here in February and it's been a great relief to know that he has settled in well with the care he receives. The food is amazing! Chef is to be commended. I'd rather eat with dad than many nice restaurants I've been to. And for dad, having lovely meals is a big part of a good quality of life.

They treat newly hires very unfair, giving them residents that require more care, requires lifts, showers etc meanwhile they do not rotate their own and have the easy to assist and residents that are independent / only require assistance with meds. They expect new hires to answer calls after residents calling for more than an hour, what kind of system is that?It is very saddening to see that there is no professionalism in the scheduling that we are being called to attend residents while running around all morning doing showers and dealing with residents that require time while others are there just sitting down.I do not recommend working here especially if they treat new hires like that.Other facilities have rotation and treat their staff better with professionalism and know the boundaries of work and friends. There is a lot of favouritism in this environment.First day and I was not given any training whatsoever, I was PUT ON THE SPOT.Another thing to add on is residents are being neglected when short staffed, they are not cared for properly and left without giving breakfast or lunch.

On behalf of everyone involved in the production of “Connecting Flights”, we want to thank you for the extra effort that you and all the staff at Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence put into making the film premiere on Friday such a spectacular event!Everything you did... the red carpet, the decorations, the flowers, the wine reception, and more were beyond anything that we had imagined. You absolutely exceeded all of our expectations.I also know just how wonderful the day was for my father, who seemed to be having the time of his life! Dad continually tells us just how special you all make him feel. We couldn't agree more!Thank you again

It has been a little over five years since my wife, Charlene, and I moved into the Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence. I had visited six possible residences before we chose Shaftesbury. We have been very pleased with our decision. The staff, the programs and the meals are all very satisfactory. Obviously in five years our health has deteriorated somewhat. Last year Charlene applied to WRHA for home care. We joined the Self/family Managed Care Program approved by WRHA but run by Shaftesbury. It is absolutely first rate. The staff are competent, empathetic and pleasant. Furthermore, Charmaine, the coordinator, is very flexible in providing respite for me. She is willing to adjust the respite according to my needs as long as I stay within the approved hours. Old age presents many challenges. We feel very privileged to have such high quality care in these remaining years of our lives.

My mother in law has now lived at Shaftesbury for the last few years . She is so happy to call it home. She enjoys all the services from the Nurses , HealthCare Aids and activities to her meals . Mom does not have to cook or clean everything is provided she enjoys the variety of the meals especially deserts and the afternoon snack carts . We know there is always some one there if she has a problem or needs something

My mother moved to the Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence about five years ago and is in The Boulevard section as she had slight dementia. As her dementia and needs have increased over the years, our family are kept constantly informed and her Care-plan is adjusted. My Mom is treated with the utmost compassion, dignity and love by all the staff. The environment is always warm and everyone is friendly. There are constant activities and although my Mom is not really able to participate in the activities, she is always included and made to feel welcome. We are so grateful for the wonderful care and love she is receiving on a daily basis at this time of her life.

On behalf of The Seniors Moving Company, I would like to commend all of the staff at Shaftsbury Park for their commitment and dedication to the residents of this very vibrant community. We have been moving folks in to this building for many years and always hear very positive feedback when we are there. Once people are settled in, they quickly begin to enjoy the multitudes of events, activities and opportunities to be involved. It is a wonderful community that we are grateful to be associated with. Thank you to all for doing such a fantastic job.

We were fortunate to have a tour of Shaftesbury Park residence and had big plans to move my Mom there but unfortunately she was diagnosed with end stage ovarian cancer but just her happiness of the thought of moving in gave her great pleasure. The amenities and wonderful programs and the friendly greeting of Duchess was a dream.

Amazing 'above and beyond' service from caring and professional staff. This includes management to front line staff, administration to nursing. We could not have asked for more for Dad or our family especially during trying COVID years. And yes, the food is good:) Thank you for all you do.
