Benjamin Moore - Bay City Paint & Wallpaper

Kim (their in house interior designer) is the best secret in westdale! Her taste in colour is second to none. Also if you bring her the colour you're looking for and she will tell you what to buy so it looks that colour when it's up on a wall. The whole staff is friendly and wonderful. I tell everyone I know to come here.

I'm really disappointed in the advice I received over the past week from this Benjamin Moore store. I've been trying to paint interior trim in a white color. I sanded the trim smooth, applied high quality primer, and used a high quality Purdy brush. I explained my project to the staff and they sold me the Regal brand of paint. It was an awful experience. The paint was too thick and dried too quickly. I couldn't even lap off a few feet of trim without the paint clumping up. I visited the store a second time to explain my difficulties. They tried to blame my brush, and then claimed my home was too humid. They sold me the Ben product of paint which was supposed to be easier to apply, but the same problem persisted. I went to Sherwin-Williams (SW) to try a different paint. SW sold me the Emerald trim paint. This stuff is amazing! The staff at SW explained to me that I shouldn't have been using paint with built-in primer (like the BM paint) because it is too thick for trim or door work. It is intended for walls. The difference between SW Emerald paint and BM paint is like night and day. The SW paint would self-level after a minute, leaving no paint brush marks. You can easily rework it over a few minutes. It also has much better coverage. After 2 coats of the BM Regal paint, it still needed a 3rd coat. One coat of the Emerald paint does the job! I wish I had started with this paint from the beginning. The staff at BM are very friendly, but they don't have the right products, at least not for trim work.

I’ve been recently doing a lot of projects around the house. I happened to stumble upon the bay city Benjamin Moore on my way home from work. My experience was great! They had an amazing friendly staff with great customer service! Very knowledgeable advice for all my painting and wallpaper inquiries. I really appreciated their help and suggestions to help me complete my painting project. I highly recommend this location for all your painting and decorating needs! I will definitely be returning customer!

Today was my first time visiting Bay City Paint. It was so refreshing to speak with Kim. Her experience and choice of colors was an amazing help! I will be sure to return.

Everyone is so knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I walk in with my floor and tile samples so confused, Kim could see that I was stressed, and she quickly approach me, and from there she worked with me to find the perfect colours. Thank you Kim!

Kim has chosen all the paint colors for my home and I absolutely love them. I went to her today to decide on a white to paint my kitchen cabinets and there are so many whites, but within a few minutes she had chosen the perfect one. She's the best!

We are painting the living room walls and ceiling of our home in Westdale which has gumwood trim and hardwood floors. It's a bit tricky to find a colour and sheen that will work with our furniture and art. Kim, however, is an experienced interior designer who works in the store and has given us very practical advice and she knows how to interact with customers. All that, combined with her intimate knowledge of Westdale house architecture and materials, proved to be a big help to us. We can recommend Kim at Bay City Paint without hesitation.
