Abraar Secondary School

This is honestly one of the worst schools I've ever sent my child too. We have moved many and many of times and none of the school were and trashy and bad as this one. It is the first private school my kids have gone to and the complain everyday about how trashy and dirty and not safe it is. My boy came home a said i thought my school was supposed to be a religious school and i said yea it is why and he proceeded to tell me that one of his teacher cursed him out right in front of the whole class and told everyone if the told the principle they would all be suspended. The is absolutely ridiculous and there needs to be something done, if that means shutting down the school then that be it because I'm sick and tired of having kids come home and crying about how bad there school and teachers are. SOMEONE NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION FAST!!!

There is a very big difference between Abraar Elementary and Secondary!!! Academic level, teachers, students, behaviors… etc. they are not reflecting Muslims manners in their daily lives! They are making bad examples for the kids and they are not handling problems wisely!!!To be fair, some of the teachers are great but related to our experience 40% of the teachers are qualified with good Muslims manners, respect others, and contribute to a better society, the others unfortunately need to remember ikhlas and muraqaba:(

The School is very nice, a great place to learn religion and study. Teachers are very respectful & understandable. Going to this school was worth it!

Great place to learn and an always open and welcoming space for public. Apart from the kids writing 1 star reviews I would say this place topped 2013 year’s charts in the Fraser Institute Report on Elementary Schools as the best school in Ottawa. Numbers don't lie

this is the worst school I have seen. when you talk to the principle you would understand how the entire school needs to be shut down. if the principle herself is very disrespectful and rude, then no wonder the staff is the way they are. first of all some teachers don't speak fluent English! they speak mostly Arabic in class and don't respond to emails. the school also has a MAJOR gender discrimination, where its ok for boys to do whatever while girls are looked down on. the way girls get treated in this school has zero respect and zero compassion. they are psychologically impacting those vulnerable kids very negatively which is beyond shameful to have a school like that in Canada!!! I will be reporting this school to the board with details of all the uncivilized acts coming from the disrespectful and unqualified staff. this place should be called anything but a place for education as no values there are gonna be taught to this young and vulnerable generation.

As a former student desperately seeking attention, I can assure you that it is the only reason I write this review. It is not because, during my time here, the facilities were so poor that I was made to throw away pads in a Halloween bucket instead of a proper disposal. It is not because while the teachers approached the topic of uniforms for the girls with an iron fist, they did nothing about the male student body making degrading and insulting comments about us and our bodies. It is not because they failed to protect their students from any of the bullying or harassment that they spoke so strongly about condemning. It is not because there is obvious favouritism towards certain students (if someone tells you this isn't true then you can assume where they stand). It is not because I faced public humiliation from my teachers instead of support when I needed it. It is not because, despite the countless Islamic lessons they provide, they never enforced these lessons where they mattered. It is not because this place caused me to have severe anxiety from the workload and deadlines, which was then ignored because I had decent grades. It is not because I came out of this institution with a negative notion of Muslims despite being one myself because of my experiences. And it is not because countless students like myself who come out of this institution would tell you the same thing. It is simply because I want the attention, or so they would like you to believe.

I believe this school is very good. The elementary was very fun and had an amazing staff, due to the budget being super low in the Secondary it is not as good. But I believe this school has very good potential, and I believe that in around 2-3 years or so they can make even better than the elementary! This school, holds many memories for me and I would not like to see this school be buried through the ground with negative responses.

HORRIBLE SCHOOL, my daughter comes home crying because of this school she says it is horrible and the teachers are rude and dont care for the students. My daughter told the teacher she was sick and the teacher said do i look like your mom? go sit down. This is outrageous and unacceptable the administration and staff need to have some consequences ASAP. DO DONT I REPEAT DO NOT SEND YOUR KID TO THIS SCHOOL!!!

My son was in the daycare for 8 months when I had to pull him out after witnessing the teacher abusing and mistreating him. He would cry EVERY SINGLE DAY. Some of the staff were very nice but there is a high turnover rate which makes it hard for the kids to form bonds. Some of the teachers were very strict with the kids and I've witnessed them yelling at the children who are not even 4 years old. When brought to the attention of the principle I was told children need discipline. DO NOT send your child here. My son is at a new daycare and never cries.

Gonna be completely honest the school is not that bad if you consider that it’s private and not getting government support but you can’t compare it to any public school Such as Long-fields. The building is pretty small and the equipment and utilities are very old. The walls have holes and cracks in them along with the ceilings. Classrooms aren’t that big and pretty old too. I personally think it’s not worth the $500 monthly but it’s up to you.
