I can wholeheartedly confirm that all of the reviews that mention the workers being rude are 110% correct.My mother loves cheese so we stopped by as we were browsing Byward Market. My mother said hello and pointed out the cheese she wanted. Every. Single. Comment. Was. Rude. Literally, the whole interaction. The woman had really dark hair. Perhaps in her 40s.I was completely taken aback. At one point, my mom and I made eye contact as if to say, “Are you hearing this?”Absolutely miserable. Not one iota of kindness, politeness, or customer service. My mom didn’t even ask for any samples or ask a single question. Just ordered a chunk of cheese.I’d give it a zero if I could. Stay away.

I asked if they had un-refrigerated cheese curds or fresh from the day. I was shown some bags. Once home, I could tell they had been refrigerated for a few days.

Great selection of cheeses and other fine food products. Be careful though as you may find products that are past the due date for consumption. I purchased a marzipan bar and could not find the due date as it was strategically hidden. After taking off the plastic label, it revealed an expiry date of Dec. 2017! The chocolate was dry and inedible. Cheeses are cheaper, but once again, may have already expired.

I used to be a regular customer in here. But customer service's quality decreased a lot and I had to stop going to this place (there are other few interesting cheese markets around byward). In the last time (22 June 2022), the young girl that was at the counter was talking on the phone all the time (not related to work). Second, she didn't know anything about the prices and promotions at the store. Third, I kindly asked her to give me some looneys for change and she said that she wouldn't because she didn't have to (I purchased some cheese). I wish I had returned the cheeses instead of taking them home!

Really great selection and super helpful staff. Prices are fair too - unlike a supermarket you can buy what you need rather than pre portioned so you can spend less to get more in smaller quantities which is nice for say a small cheese board

I went in curious to see what was for sale, said hi to the person working there and was immediately met with hostility and general rudeness. They seemed unhappy that they had a customer in the store, and the entire experience was poor, at best. Why take out your frustrations on a potential customer? I wish I hadn’t bought from this store. The rudeness was completely unnecessary and made the entire situation uncomfortable. Would not recommend.

I have been shopping at the House of Cheese for over twenty years and it is one of my all-time favourite cheese stores. A shout out to Brad the owner who continues to knock it out of the park, despite the freaking pandemic.

The staff know their product. I asked for a semi-soft raw cow milk cheese and they were spot on their suggestions. Used good bread to make my sandwich before my eyes.

The worst place to go sell expired cheese from 2 month. Look other commant the do the same. I gonna see if i can do something again this shop

I just called in to this place and as soon as the employee (the owner maybe) picked up the phone, she sounded rushed and out of breath. After explaining that I had a work function coming up and asking if they had a platter suitable for an event, the person just said I don't understand what you are asking" in a rude tone. This took me by surprise
