Was searching on Google maps and wanted to try something different (99% of Richmond results are Asian food or pubs). This was definitely the right choice. Chicken patty was well spiced with a flaky crust. Oxtail stew was rich and tender. Ackee fruit and salt fish was very unique and I'm glad we tried it. Love their homemade ginger beer – very refreshing for a hot day out.Reggae covers of pop music was playing on screen, later replaced by a live jazz musician playing some upbeat tunes on his sax. Their bathrooms were sparkling clean too. The bill for 2.5 people came to ~$60. Bit pricey, but I felt like we got our money's worth and had a great time here.

The place is a little small and tight and we had a group of 8 and a baby. The servers are not aware of what is happening. We had to ask twice for our drinks because our server came to take our order but hadn't even brought the drinks out yet. The prices are expensive. $5.00 for 1 samosa!?! The meals are too expensive and not worth it for the taste. When we asked for one of our meals to be packed with hot sauce, they packed it with a hot pepper. When bringing out plates for a cake we brought, the server came with plates and forks and looked at us asking where should I put this?" To top it off

I love this place!! My first visit there this Mother's Day for lunch. The staff are very kind and professional. The restaurant is clean and classy. The food is amazing!! We were a party of 7 and each person thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I like how they have 2 sizes of most meals- I had the 1/2 size of chicken curry with a side of roti and it was plenty filling and mmm-mmm good. The Ginger beer is exciting! If you love ginger you will love it. One more note about the staff.. they genuinely appreciate their customers, and that really comes through naturally in their service. So yes, I recommend Urban Jamaica, it is a comfortable and enjoyable place to go for lunch or dinner.Ps- the Jerk Chicken is apparently spicy & amazing.. I'm going to be daring and try that next time! ;D

Hands down for this place. Unique and full of life. A most go in Stevenston Village. A peace of the Caribbean with its music, food and atmosphere.

Highly recommended. I drove all the way from mission to come see this place. Well worth the drive. People sitting at the bar drinking some sort of smokey drink was a cool show! As for the food, it was amazing. Best Jamaican restaurant I've been too.

It's definitely authentic Jamaican food. It can be a little pricey but the food is well worth it. The oxtail, chicken and goat were all so soft they slid off the bone and the patties were definitely West Indian style. The food was so good it felt like I was eating back home

Very aromatic the minute walk in the door greated by friendly staff. All the meals prepared with love and a variety of spices. Beautiful decor and relaxing music of oldies and updated reggae. Very child welcome with wheelchair accessibility. A large menu of authentic Jamaican cuisines and assorted drinks made daily. Once you've tried it you'll be hooked.

I thought I'd step out of my comfort zone a bit so I tried the Ox-tale stew and it was incredible. The spices were unique to my pallet without being overwhelming and the meat was unbelievably tender and juicy. Probably the best stew/soup I've ever had.The ambiance and staff were both inviting and I was particularly impressed by the standard they keep in quality and portion-size for the price. It's a new restaurant for Steveston so I would rush to this place before it gets swarmed with well-deserved attention. I will likely eat here every time I find myself in Richmond (and it's well worth the drive, even from Maple Ridge).

Some of the best Jerk chicken I've ever had. Very impressed with the service even if a bit slow at first. Will absolutely go again and try the rest of the menu!

Awesome food, meat is all farm bought and ethically grown which means it tastes delicious because it tastes like sweet meaty freedom instead of oppression and antibiotics. Had wings and oxtail stew. Would highly recommend. Also there's a really terrifying painting on one of the walls. If you're into that which I am.
